Lights illuminated, cameras flashed, guests congratulated, business colleagues greeted the youngest billionaire of the country for his successful achievements. Everything was just the way any businessman would have wanted. It looked all shiny and glitzy from afar except only Jungkook knew how incomplete he felt to not have his girlfriend by his side.
Jungkook stood in the middle of the hall, plastering a fake expression of delight, when in reality all he felt was hollow inside. Today was one of the most important days of his life. His first hotel launch since being officially declared as the CEO of all branches of his company.
He received many appreciative remarks from the well known business tycoons from all over the country.
But none reached to his ears and heart as his Lady Luck wasn't by his side. His eyes wandered over a sea of people, to search for that brunette who had swept him off his feet. But there was no trace of her.
His brain forced him to bury all the expectations of her coming tonight but his heart requested him to stay strong and not lose hope.
"Kookie , my boy." A soft voice rang from his periphery and he instantly turned around to see his grandmother walking towards him enthusiastically while holding his father's hand and the other taking support of Sohee.
"Granna." Jungkook muttered, a soft smile painting his lips for the first time this evening.
Within no time he was crushed in a hug that almost knocked all of his oxygen. For a seventy five year old female, Jeon Iseul was pretty strong.
Now he knew exactly where all the energy in his genes came from.
"Oh my. Look at you. You have gotten so weak." Jungkook chuckled as his grandmother peppered his face with kisses. Grey hair, wrinkled skin yet she looked as charming as she was while in her twenties.
"I am fine Granna. It's just work." He admitted, smiling a bit as he stepped away from her embrace.
But that quiet didn't convince Iseul. The stress on his shoulders and the heaviness under his eyes wasn't related to work.
"Kookie. You might be a very successful businessman but I am still your grandmother, darling. And you are doing a terrible job in lying." Iseul arched a brow, her hands crossed over her chest symbolising she wasn't buying the shit Jungkook was giving.
When he replied with nothing but silence, Grandma Iseul turned towards the source who could give her all the information she wanted.
One look towards Sohee and it was all she needed.
"He fought with his girlfriend." Sohee blurted out in a second.
Her words turned Grandma's eyes wide, in shock and happiness as she returned her stare to Jungkook.
"Oh thank lord! I thought I would die without seeing my great grandkids." Iseul said beaming ear to ear, before asking. "Where's she? I need to meet her. Is she coming tonight?"
Jungkook shook his head but before he could say anything Sohee interrupted him. "I don't think so. This piece of shit fought with her."
"I did not." Jungkook hissed through his teeth. His eyes almost threw daggers at Sohee.
"He did." Sohee objected. "Y/n was so sad. She tried to mend things with him but he acted like a prick. Poor kid was down with fever yet he gave her a tough time."
This new information took Jungkook by surprise.
"Y/n had a fever?" He asked with his tone rising.
"Not just a fever. You-can-barbecue-anything kind of fever. She was literally burning. She could pass out at any moment."
