How It All Started

New Eridu.

It really was a small but busy city. But it was perfect for a new beginning for my family.

Well....For me, Bunny, and Spot. But I consider them family. We worked hard for this shop. Earning money for new books to sell, working with Caff Cafe to hand out coffee, hell Spot became our poster boy with his technical whiz! And well people find him adorable.

But we weren't JUST a book shop.

No no no we're not the average working class people! We were the upcoming legendary Prox-

"Proxies-!!!" Nicole suddenly rushed into our staff room and hit me with the door "I need your help!"

"OW- YOU CUT OFF OUR INTRODUCTION DAMMIT-!!!" I snarled, rubbing my nose.

Bunny sighs, "What Lisa MEANT to say....is what do you need? And please stop screaming that out loud. Are you TRYING to get us in trouble?"

"Hmph. Sorry but this is really important! I have the pay for a commission....To save Billy and Anby! And my strongbox! They all fell into the hollow! O-On the news! We were there!" Nicole explained.

Me and Bunny look at the news. Shit. Of course she gets involved with a gang. The Red Fang Gang at that. The companion hollow will be a doozy. But we need the cash.

"Spot! Come in! We're doing a new commission!" Bunny called out.

Spot nervously peeked around the corner, "D-Don't worry. I've already closed shop and fixed any devices by the computer area. I'll get on the H.D.D now...."

"Really?! That means you'll take my commission?! Nice! So who's gonna accompany me?" Nicole was delighted.

"Lisa will. We'll be here and send out our Bangboos if necessary," Bunny sighs, "Lisa's a little....unorthodox in her methods."

"Unorthodox...? What? Does she have a weird bangboo or something?" Nicole joked.

I chuckled, "Maybe if it's a little me shaped. To put it simply, I'm coming with you myself. It's just how I do business. I like to be more involved! And relax I know how to defend myself."

Nicole was shocked, "A proxy....out in the field themselves? That's...REALLY different." She looked at Spot and Bunny but they sigh and shrug. "Well....ok ok fine. I won't judge your business tactics. As long as you actually get it done or I'll have to earn a discount~"

"Be grateful I don't add an injury fee for almost knocking me out with the damn door-" I retorted in annoyance.

"Lisa don't start....it was by accident. Just help Nicole out. They are our repeat clients...." Spot said. Dammit I wish he wasn't always right. But he had a point.

"Alright then...! Let's head out!" I lead the way.

"......does she know that's the wrong way or...?" Nicole asked.

"This is why we're here. Don't worry. She's shockingly more reliable than you think. We'll all guide you through ok?" Bunny smiles at her.

Spot smiles sheepishly, "Just leave it to us!"

Nicole was skeptical reasonably enough. What an odd trio. But what other options did she have? Despite our oddness we actually got things done. So she'll just have to roll with it! Oh but this time....

Even we couldn't predict that this was just a start of something much bigger.

We had to head back to the hollow to help Nicole's group to officially finish the commission. Luckily we managed to save Anby and Billy the first time but unfortunately we had to return for the strongbox that was taken from a superior ethereal.  But....we've been in here too long. And some jackass hacker deleted our extraction point information....And telling them wasn't any less stressful.

"How are we gonna get out of here now-?!" Billy said "How am I going to watch Oh~ sweetie tonight?!"

"Mmm. It seems we have to say our goodbyes. Perhaps we should say our dying wishes before our corruption is complete?" Anby suggested.

"WAHHHH IM TOO PRETTY TO DIE-!!!" Nicole exclaimed.

"Can you idiots calm down for one second! I wasn't done talking!!!" Bunny shouted through her pink bunny designed bangboo, "Jeez....I was GONNA say we can use the strongbox's contents to get you guys out of there! But only if that's ok-"

"Do you even NEED to ask-?! Of course use it! Screw the commission! If it can help us get out of here, then do what you need to do!" Nicole stated.

Bunny sighs, "Why did I bother...? Ugh. FINE. Just don't complain later....Lisa. Insert the chip into the Bangboo."

I sigh, "Sounds good. Maybe we can all just go out to dinner after this...."

"Oooooo and watch Starlight knights together?!" Billy chimed in.

"A burger sounds....good right about now," Anby muttered, practically salivating over the imaginary burger.

We ended up laughing it out until....ah. I dropped the chip. But they watched as they saw the strange birthmark on my collarbone suddenly glow and somehow absorbed the microchip. The H.D.D that was still connected to me acted up while I froze up and everything started to get fuzzy in my vision. Various scenes played in my head as I saw myself with unfamiliar people and going through various different adventures at the same time. I swore I heard a voice amongst the chaos going around me. A different one from the others....

"Downloading information.....
Formatting. Authorization unlocked.
Terms and conditions accepted.

Do not freak out Lisa. You just woke up. Let's just recap everything.

".....so let me get this straight. My birthmark...absorbed a data chip. Fucking...somehow telepathically connecting to the H.D.D.....and after leading everyone out, I ended up passing out. And boom we now have an AI called FAIRY?" I asked.

"Yes....based on my research, it seems your birthmark is actually a...mutation of sorts? And being in the hollow for so long..."activated" it somehow...." Spot said. And

"Activate? You make me sound like a robot...." I sweat drop as I sigh.

"Might explain the weird attraction to a certain one," Bunny teased.

I cleared my throat very loudly, "OI- we don't need to be discussing that! Especially so suddenly...."

FAIRY spoke up, "Analyzing the timing....Finished. It seems the joke was delivered perfectly well. It seems you are the one lacking in skill issues"

".....talking a lot of shit for someone who's in unplugging distance," I snarl.

"Please don't fight the AI...." Spot said quickly, "Just....get some more rest ok? Don't you plan on joining The Cunning Hares on another commission tomorrow...?"

"Hm? Oh right....I already promised them before. I'd say no rest for the weary but you guys aren't gonna stop nagging me until I rest huh...?" I chuckled nervously.

Which that statement ended up leading to them chasing me around the house just to lay my ass down. Stubborn little...! Ah. But I'm stubborn too. Isn't that redundant to even say? Ugh not that it matters either way. I'll do my business tomorrow to get it over with....the others are probably worried anyway.

But....my mark.

I put a hand over it. Why did it absorb the chip? How? Who is FAIRY anyway? For a moment I saw events go by...and some people seemed so familiar. So...Foreign as well. Then the hollow suddenly growing....engulfing us. What the hell does it mean? Maybe I can get some answers over time...?

".....ugh. I'm going to be exhausted tomorrow."
