"So Christy, where do you want these?" Tracy took the pictures and books out of one of the boxes in the living room.
"Um, I don't think the guys have unloaded the bookshelf yet, just put them on the table." Christy and Tracy were unpacking boxes while Todd and Doug unloaded the trucks.
A little bit later the living room boxes were unpacked and the girls were unpacking the kitchen boxes while the guys put together the shelves in the living room. Daniel sat in the kitchen floor playing with his toys while Tracy stacked the dishes as Christy lined the shelves with paper.
"Thanks again for helping us out today. We really appreciate it. Almost three years of living in that apartment and things get a little cramped."
"Oh I know! Doug and I had that little apartment for so long, when we had Daniel it got so small we had to get the house just to make room."
"Well not that we need the room right away it sure will help when the time comes, which I hope comes soon."
"You mean you want to have kids soon? Christy that's so great!"
"Shh, please keep your voice down."
"That is great, but really so soon?"
"Well next month is our three year anniversary."
"Oh yeah! I totally forgot that y'all's anniversary is so close to Daniels birthday. I can't believe it's almost been two years!"
"Yeah and I can't believe I have been married for almost three years! I know it's soon but I really want to start our family soon, maybe not real soon like next week but I don't want to wait much longer."
"Well Daniel has certainly been a blessing to us! So what does Todd have to say about it."
"Well..."
"Christy Spencer! You haven't told Todd yet?!"
"Well I haven't had the chance! I probably will tonight. Just talk about it tho, I just want to see what he thinks about it."
"Well that's good. What time is it anyway?"
"About 7:30."
"Oh goodness! I didn't realize we'd been here so long!"
"Thank you so much for helping us today." Christy said as they collected Daniels things. They gathered everything and walked into the living room to find the guys goofing off.
"Well well well, looks like daddy is ready to go." Todd and Doug had been fighting like little boys and began laughing as the girls walked in. They both got up and they all walked to the door. They said goodbye and as soon as she closed the door Christy was swept off of her feet. Todd looked at her with a boyish grin and threw her onto the couch. Christy started laughing as Todd fished for the remote to turn on the tv. Christy scooted over and curled into him as he flipped through the channels for a movie. He picked one and they sat there for an hour and a half. Christy fell asleep half way through the movie and woke up to Todd stroking her hair. She looked up at him and he leaned down and kissed her. She bubbled up inside and kissed him back.
"So would you like to go out to dinner tonight?" Todd asked her after she woke up for a minute.
"Sure, where at?"
"I was thinking we go down to the outdoor cafe down by the pier plaza."
"Great!" Christy got changed and they walked down the pier hand in hand.
They walked into the front door over an hour later. Christy walked straight to their room while Todd watched tv in the living room. Christy stared at her reflection in the mirror. She meant to talk to Todd by now but she chickened out on the walk home. She didn't expect it to be so hard. She knew Todd would understand but she was still afraid he might not react the way he was hoping he would.
"Christy, just talk to him. What's the worst that could happen? All you have to do is come right out and say it." She looked at herself again and decided it was now or never. She walked out of the bathroom adjoined to their room and went into the living room. Todd made room for Christy to lie down on the couch. She lied down beside him and he wrapped an arm around her while he watched tv. Christy took a deep breath.
"I wanna talk to you." Todd glanced at her and then turned the tv off and sat up bringing Christy onto his other side with her legs across his lap. He stroked her hair with tender fingers as if she might break if he wasn't careful. He looked at her with a loving expression.
"What is it? Is everything alright?" His voice was calm and soothing which made Christy feel more secure and gave her more confidence.
"Well you know we've been married for almost three years now." Todd smiled at her and grabbed her hand meshing their fingers together. "I've been thinking and especially with Daniel being over here today... What would you think about maybe starting a family?" Christy held her breath as Todd thought for a second. He turned to her and his face softened. The look in his eyes made Christy feel a lot better but she kept holding her breath until he spoke.
"You know what I think? I think that is a great idea. If you want to, there's nothing I would want more." Christy finally let go of the breath she was holding and smiled like a little kid on Christmas morning. She was so happy and Todd smiled just as big. She could see it in his eyes that he really meant it.
"You know it doesn't have to be right away but I just wanted to see how you felt." He leaned over and kissed her temple moving her so she was leaning on his chest. He held her and whispered in her ear, "there's nothing I could ever want more."
