"Black? who likes black?!"
"Me." She deadpanned.
"Still mukti, how could we buy the kitchen cabinets in black?! Even the sound of it is depressing."
"Depressing or not. We're going with it and that's final."
"Mukti yaar seriously. Anything other than black, and I won't object."
"You've been objecting only to everything we've been looking at. Do you think it's easy to furnish a hous- samarth? SAMARTH!"
"HERE!"
"What are you-"
"Here look at this brown one, don't you think it's perfect?"
"We already discussed this- you get to choose for the first floor, I get to choose for the ground floor, and our budge-"
"But muktiiii, it's so cute na yaar. Please, just this once."

Mukti stopped thinking about the dream from the moment she woke up- or atleast that's what she's been telling herself while coming downstairs."you're up?"
She nodded sleepily, eyeing the breakfast on table while a lazy yawn escaped her.
"Start sleeping on time, will you?" Aakansha, her mother, scolded lightly.
"You were saying something?" She asked pulling a chair back, trying to decide between sandwich and aalo parantha.
"Did you attend the meeting yesterday? The one with the landholders from ghaziabad"
"I did." She said deciding on the sandwich.
"Did they agree to the terms?"
"Not yet. Dad and Mr Mehra have different demands."
"Hm, and the landholders?"
"Why are so interested in the landholders?" She frowned.
"You see, these landowners- from the gupta mills case- they've been troubling me endlessly. Can you see to the problem for me?"
"Didn't you compensate them after the waste dispute?"
"I did, but the union seems to be hell bent on getting a stay."
"Hm. I'll try to get it sorted." she said while nibbling on her sandwich.
"Well thanks, love." her mom smiled.
She tried smiling back.
Fake.
Sandwich mukti. Focus on the sandwich.
Her house was, more or less, as she remembered. The staff tried to stay invisible- coming out when needed. People didn't talk to each other except for work. Nobody had time for anyone.
She was comfortable with this anyway. She didn't have the heart to play family again just because things seemed to be going nice. For now.
May has come. It's been almost a month since she tried to take her own life in dispair, waking up years back in time instead. In the meantime, she has come to terms with her situation.
She's trying to move on from her past and fit herself back into her surroundings. She has one goal this time- trying her best to stay away from cheating-husbands-who-are-secretly-murderous, or treacherous sisters.
Which reminds her, Natasha would be back soon. If everything goes as before, Natasha would be joining a new project in her place.
It was her father's idea actually. Natasha had lost a modelling contract recently so he makes her work with him to cheer up. Such a sweetheart he is, isn't he?
