12:30 AM.
Mukti looked at the watch as she finished reading the reports. A waitress had come earlier telling her that they'll be closing soon. There were barely any people in the cafe, Most had already left and a waitress had come earlier telling her that they'll be closing soon. The whole day went by, and no one came looking for the kitten she had found. Petting the fur baby softly, she shifted her new friend to her lap once again.
"What do we do now, little munchkin?" She asked scratching her chin lightly. the kitten closed her eyes and mewed.
"Mew" The tiny kitten snuggled closer to her.
She's too cute to handle!
"That's it. I'm taking you home."
Even if it's for a while, She can use some company.
She called her driver before collecting her belongings and leaving her contact details with the cafe owner, in case someone did come looking for the kitten.
It was well past 2:00 am by the time she reached home. Tiptoing to her room with her furry friend, she had a heart attack when she saw her mom come out of kitchen."at this time?" Mukti whispered.
Akansha was never the one to be mid night snacking, or at least she had thought so. But the pastry in her hand sure said otherwise.
Her mother had stopped midway through her next bite, her spoon hooked akwardly to her hand.
"Woh- I couldn't slee- wait. what are you doing at this time?"
Now it was her turn to stutter.
"M-Me?"
Akansha frowned, looking at the sleeping kitten cradled in mukti's arms.
"Do you plan to keep it?"
Seriously mom, IT? that's all you could manage?
"I'm keeping her for a friend."
"Trisha?"
"Why does it matter mom, you don't know anyone anyway."
"that's not how you talk-"
she walked up to her room, not waiting to hear her reply.
"Do you also think I'm rude?" She muttered while placing the sleeping kitten on her bed.
"It won't make a difference either way." she plopped down on her back.
**
"a lemonade please." someone down the line said.
sigh.
why is it so crowded today?
"excuse me? it's your turn."
already? her face lit up.
"may i take your order ma'am?" The attendent asked with a polite smile.
"oh yes. a vanilla shake and a hot brownie." She phished out her phone from the bag.
"any allergic restrictions?"
"None, but can you add extra syrup?"
"Sure ma'am. your total would be 200, would you like to pay by cash or card?"
"onlin-" they don't have online transactions yet! and she didn't bring her wallet.
"Ma'am?"
She gave an apologetic look to the attendent.
"I'm sorry. It seems I forgot to bring my wallet, so I'd have to cancel-"
"swipe this, and add a sandwich and coffee to the order."
