Seungmin's POV
"Seungmin! Put that phone down and practice these vocals. Did I ask you to come to the studio just to sit and watch videos for hours? Practice this quickly. I'll call you in shortly. You need to sing properly okey..."
We were on studio. Only two of us. The studio was spacious, with soundproof walls adorned with various awards and posters of Stray Kids.
"Ah, okay, okay, hyung..." I said, grabbing the sheets from Chan's hand in frustration and looking at them reluctantly.
He is so annoying... Why does he put me through this? I already sing well enough. It's just hard to memorize the lyrics, that's all.
I silently cursed Chan in my mind, justifying myself.
After a while, out of boredom, I picked up my phone again and started fiddling with it.
"Minah... Come, it's your turn..." Chan called me in exactly thirty minutes. His voice startled me, and I almost dropped the phone on the floor. "Coming..." I said, grabbing the sheets Chan gave me and heading into the studio room where the mics and equipment were.
Chan was sitting outside the room, ready to support me.
"Shall we start? Good luck," he said. I took a deep breath and began to sing. Almost immediately, Chan stopped the recording. "Minnie, you don't even remember the rhythm. It should be like this," he demonstrated the part.
"Raise your voice at the end. Good work, let's do it again.
" Don't forget the lyrics... Again. "
"Minnie, you started too early... one more time mmm.."
Again... Again... Again!!! What is this madness?.. My frustration built alongside his.
I knew my tone was off, but couldn't we take a break? The room felt stifling, the walls closing in as Chan's instructions became more relentless.
"Faster this time... You're too slow minnie..."
For the next half hour, it was just endless repetition. the minutes dragging painfully. Chan's normally supportive demeanor had turned stern and unyielding.. At one point, Chan suddenly stopped the recording and stood up. "Min, come out now," he said angrily. His frustration was palpable. He rarely got mad, but when he did, it was intimidating.
"You haven't even gotten used to it yet, Min. How can we work like this? You don't even know the lyrics properly."
"Hyung, we've been at this for hours," I snapped, my own anger flaring.
"Can we do this later?""No, we're going to keep doing this until you get it right!.
You haven't even practiced for half an hour properly and you're already saying you're tired." he shot back, his voice hard."Hyung! I said NO!! I'm not a robot like you. I don't like working nonstop for hours like you do. "
I let out everything I was holding back. Chan looked at me in surprise, making me feel guilty for a second.. But then he just smirked and started scolding me again.
"Huh. Are you going to argue with me now? Shut up, Min, and look at these parts carefully. I'll record my parts in the meantime. Listen to my recording and practice. Got it?"
"I can't!!"
I shouted, unable to listen to his lecture any longer. My chest heaved with frustration and anger. I glared at him.
"What am I doing wrong? You always think you're better than me. I sing well too, but you never appreciate it!!. "
Chan looked stunned, his eyes wide. His mouth opened, but I didn't give him a chance to speak. "Ahh... Are you jealous because I debuted faster than you? You stayed in the training period for about 7 years, didn't you? Stop bothering me, hyung. I'm going back to the dorm. This pointless work is giving me a headache."
