The end of the summer vacation came too quickly for Hayley's liking. She was looking forward to getting back to Hogwarts, but her month at the Lupin Cottage had been the happiest of her life. It was difficult not to feel jealous of Teddy when she thought of the Dursleys and the sort of welcome she could expect next time she turned up on Privet Drive. However, from past few days, Remus' health had been depreciating, even the smallest of tasks would tire him out, when Hayley asked about it to Teddy and Rose, they told her that it was just a cold and he would be fine after few days rest, though Hayley had a feeling they were hiding something, she didn't push it. On their last evening, Rose and Regulus conjured up a sumptuous dinner that included all of Hayley, Teddy, Neville and Draco's favorite things, ending with a mouthwatering treacle pudding. they rounded off the evening with a display of Filibuster fireworks; they filled the kitchen with red and blue stars that bounced from ceiling to wall for at least half an hour. Then it was time fora last mug of hot chocolate and bed. It took a long while to get started next morning. They were up at dawn, but somehow they still seemed to have a great deal to do.
Remus' condition had worsened and he was strictly forbidden by Rose, Regulus and Teddy to even get up from his bed. Just when they were about to leave, Rose and Regulus had been called at the ministry for some urgent case and they had no choice but to leave, therefore, Tonks would be dropping the kids off at the station and as there was a shortage of time, she was allowed to ride her father's Ford Anglia, but was strictly forbidden from flying it. Hayley couldn't see how five people, four large trunks and two owls were going to fit into one small Ford Anglia. She had reckoned, of course, without the special features that Tonks had added. "Not a word to Reggie or Remus, please" she whispered to Hayley as she opened the trunk and showed her how it had been magically expanded so that the luggage fitted easily.
Tonks hid her face in Charlie's shoulder as Regulus and Andromeda gave her a look.
"Oh Merlin my daughter's a genius" Ted Tonks said, amused. Tonks grinned, giving her dad a hi-five, but the two stopped grinning when Andromeda yelled, "Stop encouraging that behavior Ted, it's against the law to bewitch muggle artifacts"
"But it's not an 'artifact' its a car, Andy" Sirius reasoned, but Andromeda shut him up with a glare.
They reached King's Cross at a quarter to eleven. Tonks dashed across the road to get trolleys for their trunks and they all hurried into the station. "I'll take Neville and you three come right after us," Tonks told Hayley, Teddy and Draco, grabbing Neville's hand and setting off. In the blink of an eye they were gone. Teddy disappeared through the barrier right after Tonks. "Let's go together, we've only got a minute," Draco said to Hayley. Hayley made sure that Hedwig's cage was safely wedged on top of her trunk and wheeled her trolley around to face the barrier. She felt perfectly confident this time. Two of them bent low over the handles of their trolleys and walked purposefully toward the barrier, gathering speed. A few feet away from it, they broke into a run and —CRASH. Both trolleys hit the barrier and bounced backward; Draco's trunk fell off with a loud thump, Hayley was knocked off her feet, and Hedwig's cage bounced onto the shiny floor, and she rolled away, shrieking indignantly; people all around them stared, "What in blazes d'you think you're doing?" The guard nearby yelled. "Lost control of the trolley," Hayley gasped, clutching her ribs as she got up.
"Oh Merlin, are you kidding me?" James and Lily groaned, loudly.
"And we haven't even reached Hogwarts yet" Rose said, exasperated.
"I hope they don't do something stupid" Remus prayed, rubbing his forehead.
Hayley and Draco looked at each other guiltily as their friends gave them knowing looks.
