Adeline ran through the streets of the city of Rahu. She always found that funny, Rahu and Ketu. Rahu symbolizes the head, always hungry, starving, craving everything in its wake, yet it all never being enough. And Ketu, the body, lost, unable to see. Cats are considered rahu, they don't listen to other people, they do what they want, how they want it, when they want it.

On this day, she was wandering. Having not lived in the city for long, she didn't exactly have the housing situation to be able to pay for food, but she lived in the city long enough to know of a small liquor that may or may not be laundering money. Their drinks were cheap, even with the taxes, however she knew instantly they would never believe any story she might spin.

She had to use that disbelief to her advantage.

She found her way inside, using a fake ID with some worn out clothes she found in a nearby dumpster, and walked around the streets as it stormed, just to add some credibility. She had planned this for weeks, she couldn't mess this up now. She then walked into the store, using an ever so slightly fake accent, a mixture of north-western and slightly french, something believable.

All it took was playing the fool for a bit, which normally would have damaged her pride, though the satisfaction of tricking two grown men was more satisfying than anything. All she had to do was steal some of the money and leave.

White the two men fought, she made her way down to the basement, stepping down the basement stairs one by one—

Landing in water. The water went up to her ankles, and she realized something mortifying. She had made a mistake. The men would come in here any moment, knowing what she was looking for, and she would have to escape without anything. All that work for nothing. She quickly looked around for a window, finding one above one of the many useless filing cabinets. She climbed up it, before finding something... curious. one of the cabinets was open.

Of course, this was the fault of whoever had left it open, but she considered it a win to be able to gain something, if for nothing else, than for blackmail. She picked up the one that was the most full, and opened it.

That was when she realized this was nowhere near a "small drug ring," but rather something more sinister. Several documents holding descriptions of recent hits, of people they've killed, just out and about in the basement.

She paused, before finding a file, in the back. She knew she should have turned back but... oh she couldn't help herself. She read through the file, and in that moment she knew exactly what she wanted to do.
