The day Adeline Stole From the Mafia- as told by the mafia (again)

There, in the basement where all of the files were, a few dozen were spread about, but it was clear to both of them what had happened. The girl had gotten in, leaving the small basement window wide open.

"Hey! Kid! What are you doing!" William started, hiding his nervousness. Vermon, however, was already sneaking over to the shoes. "Come back inside! You'll catch a cold!"

The girl was silent, unmoving, and Vermon grabbed her feet, dragging her back in– or, rather, her shoes.

"You don't have guns do ya?" Adelines voice rang out, her southern twang seeping out as she spun around two guns— the ones that had been on the two men before they even went to the basement. "Figured id snatch these pretty lil thangs before ya try to use 'em on me!" she laughed, before pointing both the guns at the two men. "Now I have a lil somthin' of yours that'd be a real shame if it got out," she put one of the guns in her pocket, before holding out the black file.

"Fetch," she said, before throwing the file out the window. The ground was level with Vermons and Williams' eyes. Already the two could hear a pedestrian walking towards the thing.

"Fuck! Vermon, you're thinner, go grab it, quick!" William turned his attention back to Adeline, who had already left.

Once vermon climbed back in, he glared at william, now soaking wet. "Where is she?"

"...gone."

Vermon groaned, before kicking on the filing cabinets. "Goodness, you didn't think to follow her?" the two started making their way up the stairs.

"Whats the point?" william asked, "she doesn't have the files, and she doesn't have the Stardust."

vermon paused. "Fuck! The Stardust, quick you dumbass!" he dragged William back up the stairs, going to the second floor now they slammed the door open. There, in the middle of the room, the one bag that had dozen of bags of Stardust had been taken.

"...i retract half of my statement," william said in a failed attempt to be optimistic, "...but we still have the files."

"Do we?" Vermon asked, before opening the file, and immediately getting bombed with bright red glitter, "or were we conned? Tell me, what do you think?"
