The band was buzzing with pre-show excitement, each member preparing in their own way. Christine was the first to be ready, having meticulously gone through her ritual of warming up and getting dressed. She exited her dressing room and made her way to the side of the stage, wanting to take a peek at the crowd gathering beyond the curtain. As she walked, she didn't notice the wires snaking across the floor. Her foot caught on one of them, and she went down hard, landing awkwardly. Jenn, who was at the table nearby getting water, saw Christine fall and rushed over.
"Christine! Are you okay?" Jenn asked, her voice filled with concern.
Christine, a bit dazed, waved her off. "I'm fine, Jenn. Really. Just tripped over these damn wires."
"Are you sure? That looked like a pretty bad fall," Jenn insisted, helping Christine to her feet.
Christine shook her head, trying to shrug off the incident. "Yeah, I'm sure. No pain or anything. Let's just get ready for the show."
Despite Christine's reassurance, Jenn couldn't shake the worry. She kept an eye on her boss as they prepared to go onstage. The show started without a hitch, the band falling into their usual rhythm. However, halfway through the performance, Christine began to feel a sharp pain in her wrist. She tried to adjust her playing, thinking it might just be her technique, but the pain persisted and grew worse.
After the show, Jenn noticed Christine cradling her wrist. "Christine, what's wrong? You look like you're in pain."
Christine grimaced, flexing her fingers. "It's my wrist. It started hurting during the show. I thought it was just the way I was playing, but it's getting worse."
Jenn's eyes widened with realization. "Christine, you fell earlier. Maybe it's not just your playing. We should go to the emergency room."
Christine hesitated, then nodded. "You might be right. Let's go."
At the hospital, Jenn and Christine waited anxiously in the ER. After what felt like an eternity, Christine was called back for x-rays. The doctor, a kind woman with a calm demeanor, came in with the results.
"Ms. McVie, it looks like you've sprained your wrist," the doctor explained, showing Christine the x-ray. "We'll need to wrap it and you should take it easy for a while. No playing piano for at least a week."
Christine sighed, relief and frustration mixing. "Alright, thank you, doctor."
The doctor expertly wrapped Christine's wrist, ensuring it was supported. "You'll need to keep this on and avoid using your wrist too much. If the pain persists or gets worse, come back immediately."
Christine nodded, thanking the doctor again. Jenn stayed close, offering silent support.
As they walked back to the hotel, Christine tried to lighten the mood. "I can only imagine what the band will say when they see me like this in the morning."
Jenn chuckled. "They'll probably think you got into a fight with a wild animal and won. Or maybe they'll think you tripped over your own feet."
Christine laughed, despite the pain. "Well, technically I did trip over something."
Jenn smiled. "Just be glad it wasn't worse. We need you in one piece, you know."
Christine grinned. "I know. Thanks for taking care of me, Jenn. I really appreciate it."
"Anytime, Christine. Just try to rest now, okay?" Jenn replied as they reached their respective rooms.
Christine nodded, a hint of exhaustion in her eyes. "I will. Goodnight, Jenn."
