"I'm really sorry for what Abraxas did to you on your first night here. I told them to stop but the whole lot of them love a good tease," Draycie said. "I hope we can start off on a good page."
"Don't worry, this was far from being the first prank someone's played on me," I said, reminiscing about Fred and George's countless pranks and the never-ending trials I did for them before they opened their shop.
"Great," Sabrina said sarcastically as Draycie gave me a hug, which I accepted. "Now that we're all friends, can we please head to the library, Amelia? I don't know how it was at Durmstrang, but you don't want to fall behind on schoolwork here at Hogwarts."
Sabrina was right. I often found myself cramming assignments and studying all night before tests because I was a professional procrastinator. Lucky for me though, I always had help from Ginny, who would copy off Ron, who had copied off Hermione. Sabrina reminded me very much of Hermione. They were both extremely talented and intelligent witches.
Sabrina dragged me out of the dorm room, and we practically ran to the library. I couldn't run as fast as usual, my leg still healing from my duel against Kylian Lestrange in Defense Against the Dark Arts class. As we entered the library, Orion Black was exiting. He was leaning on the door to hold it open for Sabrina and me and gently brushed his hand over mine to catch my attention. He gave me a flirtatious grin before speaking.
"Have any plans for this weekend, or will Selwyn be keeping your pretty self locked up in the library all weekend?" Orion teased, his voice low enough not to carry.
I rolled my eyes but smiled. "Actually, I was thinking of exploring the restricted section. You know, looking for a book that explains why you think those lines work."
Sabrina laughed, punching Orion lightly on the arm. "Leave her be, or you'll scare her off to the library permanently."
Orion pretended to clutch his heart. "Touché, Selwyn. But on a more serious note, Amelia, I was wondering if you would accompany me this weekend to Hogsmeade."
"Umm," I answered uncertainly. Sure, Orion was incredibly handsome. Unlike his twin sister Draycie, who was platinum blonde, Orion had dark hair, almost as dark as Riddle's. He was quite tall and fit from Quidditch, and his eyes were a beautiful gray. I wanted to say yes, but going out with someone in these times could be dangerous.
It could change the course of history. But again, I was here to change the course of history.
Perhaps one outing with a handsome boy won't change much. As long as I don't fall for him and he doesn't fall for me.
"Yes, I'd love to go to Hogsmeade with you, Orion," I said, grinning.
Sabrina tugged at my arm for us to get into the library. She was becoming impatient, giving Orion a forced smile and wave before turning her back against the library doors.
"I haven't seen Orion act like that ever. Usually, he's all serious," Sabrina said, causing the librarian to tell us to keep it down. Some things never change regardless of the time period you're in.
The library was unusually quiet, and Sabrina and I took a seat at an empty table quite far into the library. I wouldn't be surprised if this was Sabrina's usual spot that no one dared to touch. I did not feel like studying, especially when I had greater things to be worrying about such as finding a way back home and most importantly killing Tom Riddle. Speak of the devil, I noticed from the corner of my eye that he was sitting a few tables across from us, immersed in a textbook. I ignored him and began writing an essay on the evolution of giants for History of Magic.
I must have been working on my essay for over an hour before Francesco joined us for our study session. He came bearing a few sweets which we devoured sneakily without the librarian noticing.
