How does a bastard, orphan, son without a mother and a Scotsman, dropped in the middle of an elementary school in America, grow up to be a leader and a scholar?

ALEXANDER'S POV:

I stood in front of a classroom, looking as nervous as ever. I had never been to a school before; let alone an American school.

Mr. Washington was talking to the other students about me, but I wasn't paying attention. I was thinking about how nerve-wrecking a new school could be. I could see all the other students starting at me as if I were an outsider (which I was).

"What's your name?" I heard Mr. Washington ask me.

I immediately snap out of my nervous state, and give him an answer.

"Alexander Hamilton. My name is Alexander Hamilton..." I say awkwardly.

I guess Mr. Washington could see how nervous I was, because he let me sit down. I was sat down next to a kid named...Aaron Burr (?)

I stayed quiet until lunch time. I didn't have anyone to speak to, anyways. I didn't really pay attention to the other kids, which made them not pay attention to me. And honestly, I don't know if that makes me feel better or worse...

Something I did notice though, is how popular this 'Aaron Burr' kid seemed to be. He was smart, socially accepted, and good looking (if I do say so myself). It thought maybe if I could become friends with Aaron, maybe it could help me climb up the social ladder (whatever that meant.)
