Theodore Nott
Waking up I remember Jade and I running through the halls last night full of laughter. Raiding the kitchen of food until she got some texts and became upset.
It's hard not to become close with someone you're around all of the time, even if I'm not allowed to. Whenever she's sad it crushes me knowing what I did. But, the past week she's seemed pretty happy therefore I feel like I can be happy around her.
That night at the astronomy tower was perfect but then I recall being sworn to secrecy and it ruins everything.
We aren't meant to know, but we all remembered it was her birthday. I heard Pansy calling Mattheo this morning swearing to not tell anyone about her birthday and that we can throw a party for her.
"You up?" Mattheo ends the call.
"Hard not to wake up to Pansy's yelling." I stretch getting up slowly.
"Tell me about it." My best mate changes into clothes for breakfast.
"Can you lot shut up." Enzo's voice is muffled from his head being under the covers.
Mattheo and I both look at each other and start obnoxiously talking loudly and laughing. This causes a great reaction from Enzo, by chucking pillows at our heads.
"Get up, we have breakfast." I pull the sheets off of him.
"Lazy ass." Mattheo says from within the bathroom.
Enzo groans but finally gets up. He doesn't even shower just puts on a shirt and goes to breakfast in sweatpants and some cartoon shirt.
Reaching the place we sit at on the Slytherin table we realise all the girls are there except Jade.
"Where's the birthday girl?" Draco asks taking the piss as we can all tell.
"We thought she was with you guys?" Pansy looks worried.
"Haven't seen her all morning." I tell them.
"She went to practise quidditch early this morning." Pansy informs us.
"We didn't have training." Mattheo says.
"I'm sure she's fine, just upset. It's her first birthday without her dad." Daphne whispers. It feels like a knife to the heart when Daphne says that, guilt washing all over me.
"I've never seen someone so—." Draco gets interrupted.
"Depressed? You'd be too." Blaise snaps at him.
Draco can be a little blunt with how he says things but we all know he means well. We just have to call him up on it from time to time and make sure he never says anything like that in front of Jade.
"I'll ask Fred after breakfast." I tell the group. Probably not the best person to ask him but for Jade's sake he has to be civil.
Breakfast is Jade's favourite, bacon and egg rolls, with hash browns, and sausage. She thinks nobody notices her but it's hard not to when everything about her is perfect. Her slight Italian accent is so pretty, unlike my heavy one. Her jet black hair makes her green eyes pop and falls just below her prominent collar bones. With breakfast she also normally gets an almond iced latte.
I can see Pansy taking extra on her plate just for Jade. It's sweet seeing another side to Pansy, she's normally an outspoken bitch but with Jade she's soft. Like many of us, Jade makes us soft. I'm pretty sure that adds to why I had to do what I did.
Everyone at our table finished breakfast fast, eager to know whether Jade is okay or not. I lock eyes with Fred and his eyes seem to widen when he doesn't notice Jade sitting with us. What has he done?
