CAPITULO 16: To The New Beginning

Minutes felt like hours as I sat there, staring at the doors. Every time they swung open, my heart leaped into my throat, only to crash back down when it wasn't news about Kinsley. My clothes were still damp with her blood, the sticky warmth a constant, horrifying reminder of how close we had come to losing her.

Lumipas ang ilang oras bumukas ulit ang pinto at niluwa nito ang doctor ni Kinsley. I stood up as I faced him.

"She's stable," he said, and I nearly collapsed with relief. "We're doing everything we can. She's in good hands. Marami dugo nawala pero naagapan naman. Now, hihintayin na lang natin na magising siya."

I nodded, not trusting myself to speak. The doctor gave me a reassuring smile before turning back to the room.

I sank back into the chair. It wasn't over, but she was fighting.

Kinuyom ko ang kamao ko at nagsimula mamuo ang galit. Mabilis akong tumayo at lumabas ng hospital. Napahinto ako dahil nakita yung Izu sa labas ng hospital nakatayo sa poste habang hawak hawak ang laptop bag. Mag isa na lang ito. Wala na si Akira. Napaayos ito ng tayo nang makita ako.

"Sir! saan ka pupunta? ibinilin ka sakin ni Ma'am Aki-you can't go."

I ignored her and continued walking but she keep following me. Huminto ako at naghanap ng masasakyan. Pero malabo na ata makahanap ng taxi ngayon. Sa desperado ko napatingin ako sa pulang honda click sa parking area. I looked around to check a Cctv. Mayroon tatlo. Isa sa hospital entrance, isa rin sa katabing coffee shop at isa sa kaliwa kalsada sa convenient store.

"You're a hacker diba?" baling ko sa babaeng nakabuntot sakin."Hack all the security system here. Siguraduhin mo wala makakakita sa gagawin ko." I said, approaching the nearby red honda civic.

"Shit-naman, Sir! Matte!" (Wait)

Hindi ko siya pinakinggan. Yumuko ako sa bintana ng driver seat para tignan ang loob. Binasag ko ang bintana gamit ang siko ko. Binuksan ko ang pinto at pumasok sa driver seat. I scanned to look for the key but there's nothing. I ducked under the steering wheel, feeling around for the wires. My fingers touched the cold metal, and I grabbed a bunch of wires. With a quick pull, I uncovered them.

Natutunan ko ito sa isang lalaki. The man who first thought me how to fight. Ama amahan ko dati. I forgot his name. I was grade 8 that time. Pero natatandaan ko tinatawag siya ni mama 'Nik'. He just disappeared like a ghost when I was in grade 10. Hindi ko na alam nasaan siya ngayon.

Suddenly, all the lights around me went out. I looked up to see Izu smirking as she closed her laptop. She gave me a thumbs-up. What a hacker she is.

I didn't say anything. I twisted the wires together, and the engine roared to life. Just as I was about to drive away, she ran to the driver's side door, her eyebrows knit together in frustration.

"Sir? iiwan mo ako??" tila nagtatampo nito sabi.

I sighed.

"Please, watch my girlfriend." I said as I drove away.

My hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, my knuckles turning white. The buildings blurred past, just streaks of light and shadow in the night.

The wind blew through the broken window, stinging my face, but I didn't care. My mind was racing as fast as the car. I took a sharp turn, and the car tilted dangerously to one side before straightening out. I could hear my blood pounding in my ears, louder than the roar of the engine.

The speedometer climbed higher, the needle pushing past the limit. I didn't slow down. I couldn't. Kailangan kong makapunta doon as fast as I can para may maabutan pa ako.
