LILA and Vince had grown closer over the past few weeks. Their connection, forged through shared trials and quiet understanding, had slowly begun to shift into something neither of them could ignore anymore. It wasn't sudden-it was built in glances, in silence, in the way they found comfort in each other without needing to ask.
Vince decided it was time to show Lila how much she meant to him. Not just through protection-but through something softer, something real. He planned an extravagant surprise, a trip that he hoped would give them space... away from the chaos, away from the past.
Vince had spared no expense. He chartered a private jet and arranged for them to stay at a luxurious villa by the coast, where the turquoise waves kissed the golden sands.
As the jet soared through the sky, Vince couldn't help but steal glances at Lila. She was looking out the window, her face lit with quiet excitement.
"I can't believe you did all this," Lila said, turning to him with a soft, genuine smile. "It's incredible."
Vince returned the smile, though there was something deeper behind it now. "You deserve something good, Lila. Just... something peaceful."
They arrived at the villa just as the sun was beginning to set, casting a golden glow over everything. The air smelled of salt and warmth, the distant sound of waves creating a calm Lila hadn't felt in months.
As they stepped out onto the terrace, Lila paused, taking everything in-the view, the quiet, the strange feeling of being somewhere untouched by everything she had gone through.
Then her gaze shifted to Vince.
For a moment, she just... looked at him.
He didn't look like the man who ruled from the shadows of the city. Not here. Not like this.
He wore a fitted white linen shirt, the sleeves rolled up just enough to reveal his forearms, paired with dark trousers that made him look effortlessly put together. The breeze caught his dark hair, leaving it slightly tousled, softening the sharpness of his features. His jaw was still defined, his presence still commanding-but his eyes... they were different. Quieter. Warmer when they met hers.
And somehow, that version of him made her heart beat faster.
"You like it?" Vince asked, his voice pulling her out of the moment.
Lila blinked, quickly looking away as if she hadn't been staring. "It's beautiful," she said softly.
The villa itself was stunning, with large glass windows that offered a panoramic view of the ocean. Vince led Lila to the terrace where a candlelit dinner awaited them.
"This is beautiful, Vince," Lila said, her eyes shining. "Thank you."
Vince pulled out a chair for her. "Anything for you, Lila. Tonight, I want you to relax and enjoy yourself."
As they dined on gourmet dishes prepared by a private chef, Vince and Lila exchanged stories and laughter. The conversation flowed easily.
Vince told stories-lighter ones, stories she hadn't heard before. Not about violence or power, but about clever escapes, small victories, and moments where he outsmarted people rather than destroyed them.
"And just as he was about to make his move," Vince said, laughing, "I 'accidentally' spilled an entire bottle of red wine all over his white suit. He was so flustered he completely forgot about his plan."
Lila laughed, the sound like music to Vince's ears. "I can just imagine the look on his face. You're quite the strategist."
Lila laughed-a real laugh this time.
