"Im bored! I wanna go home already," I said, feeling very lazy to eat dinner.
"Lav, you're at home," Mommy said.
"No. Not here, I meant Tita Ana's home," I answered.
"I miss Tita Ana too," Goldy said.
"Oh don't worry, Tita Ana doesn't miss you," I retorted. She looked pissed. I won. I just smiled at her.
"How's school, Lav?" Dad asked.
"Good, I make lots of acquaintances. They're like my school friends. I don't like when people come to the hacienda because of that, so I don't make real friends. Only Leon makes me comfortable," I said. It's true that I have many friends at school, but outside, not so much.
"Who's Leon?" Goldy suddenly asked.
"Is he your boyfriend? Ha! Is he the reason why you cut your beautiful long hair?" She followed up.
"Why do you care?" I asked.
"Because!" She looked annoyed. She didn't finish what she's supposed to tell.
"What?" I mocked.
"Ugh! Never mind!" She said and pouted.
"Oh, I brought you a gift, by the way. Here," I said as I handed her the YSL paper bag."O.M.G! You brought me the limited edition?" She said happily.
"Kate told me to get the new limited edition because it's pretty, but when I saw it in the store, it's not really pretty. I don't like the design. I thought of you; you have a weird taste, that's why I brought it," I lied.
"Aww, thank you, Ate! You're the best! I love you!" She said and hugged me with a kiss on my cheek.
"Oh wait, I'm supposed to be mad! Ugh!" She said and walked out, leaving the kitchen with my gift bag.
"Whatever," I rolled my eyes.
"Lavender, you don't need a boyfriend. Break up with that boy or else," Dad said.
"Or else what? Stop acting like you care about me, Dad. Remember you're the one who wanted me gone? Stop making fake care about me, I don't need it," I answered.
"Lav, we're just thinking about your lifestyle. You don't belong with someone who lives on a farm," Mom said.
"Oh really, Mom? Because that's where I live now. At least with him, he knows how to take care of me, he knows all my favorites. Eh kayo? Baka kahit paborito kong kulay hindi niyo alam," I said and walked out. I saw Goldy standing on the stairs; I just looked at her and left her there.
I woke up early in the morning, and then I remembered that I'm not in Davao. In Davao, I always wake up early to have breakfast with Tita before she goes to work. Also, Leon was there to keep me company and not feel bored.
I was cooking my breakfast when my sister sat down at our counter table.
"I want a bacon and egg sandwich," she said while looking at her phone.
"Make your own. Hindi mo ako katulong," I replied. She went ballistic; her face turned red just because she didn't get the answer she wanted to hear.
"Dad! Ate doesn't want to cook breakfast for me," Goldy complained to Dad.
"You're 14! Yet you still can't cook? When I was your age, I could do lots of chores already!" I retorted. It's true, ever since she arrived at this house, Mom and Dad haven't paid much attention to me. She's always like that.
"Lav, don't shout at your sister, be an Ate to her. Just cook her breakfast too," Dad said while seriously reading the newspaper.
"I won't cook for her, Dad. If you want her to eat breakfast, then cook for her. Hindi ko ipagluluto ang demonyitang bata na yan," I said as I grabbed my breakfast and walked out.
