👻Chapter 9: An Explanation👻

A week went by, but it was honestly the best week of Grian's life.
He caught up on sleep, he was no longer hearing the Watchers, he didn't have to be tied down to bed and best of all, he had the week off to relax after being through that.
So, he's been staying at Mumbo's with Scar and that's also been the best.

"Feeling a lot better now?"
"Yeah, definitely. . ."
Scar was helping with his feathers, Grian glanced at Scar,"When is, Professor Martyn coming to talk more?", "Uh, I think today; I did warn Mumbo, saying a professor is gonna come in and talk about what happened so, he knows.", Grian nods, sighing,"Oh good, don't wanna scare him, I'm looking forward to going back to work though, teaching and ghost hunting.", Scar nods,"You still need to be careful.", that was true.

"Doorbell!"
"I got it."
Mumbo dried his hands, tossed it aside and opened the door.
"Hey, I'm Martyn LittleWoods is Grian here?"
"Yes, you must be the professor Grian and Scar told me about, and Jimmy? You're here too?"
Jimmy nods,"To keep an eye on him.", Martyn pinched the bridge of his nose,"Uh, please come in.", Mumbo stepped aside, holding the door open for them.

"Thanks."
Martyn took a seat,"Is he aware?", "Yeah, he knows about the ghost stuff he just, never gets involved with it.", Martyn nods, Jimmy didn't sit but he did take Mumbo's offer to have a cup of tea.
"So, the spirit is a Watcher; What more could you tell us."
Martyn pointed to Grian,"Well, some effects might be having a few feathers that have turned purple, a few other effects might be potential abilities from Watchers; Like seeing things you couldn't see before.", Martyn pointed to himself,"For me, I was possessed by a Listener which now has given me the ability to hear things no one else can, it possessed me to escape the Watchers as Listeners are spirits that lived in that house as their servants and slaves. But they're still trapped under their numb, but then. . . Something else happened.", Martyn looked at the ground, Jimmy looking uncomfortable as Mumbo returned with tea for everyone.
"Can we ask?"
Jimmy stepped forward to that, Martyn expecting it,"I took on this case before, along side Martyn and Scott. . . But during one of the checks, Scott was attacked by a Watcher it. . . Shoot some type of ghost weapon through his chest, and then Martyn was possessed by a Watcher to try and finish him off.", Scar turned to Martyn, he did look remorseful from what Jimmy was saying.
"The Watcher didn't attach itself to me, it just wanted that kill for a reason I don't know. . . It did damage my soul, but. . . No amount of damage can compare to Scott's injury. Yet that hasn't stopped him from helping."
Scar nods, he did hear Scott and Jimmy talking in the kitchen.
"Scott's. . . Something else, I don't know how he forgave me and continues to help with research."
Yep; Definitely Scott Smajor Zside.

"Can you tell us anything about the orphanage before it closed?"
Martyn ran his hand through his hair, sighing heavily.
"Uhm. . . A lot of stuff was swept under the rug once it closed, apparently despite the many children that lived there, it wasn't a good place."
Hm.
Scar turned to Mumbo,"Hey, Mumbo? Can you do me a favour and stop by our workplace tomorrow and ask for more information?", Mumbo nods,"Will do.", Grian smiled, he turned back to Martyn.
"And. . . These new abilities?"
"I can teach you how to control it. . ."
