Synopsis: Suguru, your boyfriend, finds you sitting on the sofa reading a book and tries to hug you from behind but you flinch instinctively.

It's a peaceful day on a Saturday afternoon where the sun is still out and the view to the garden is absolutely breathtaking. The flowers flowing in the breeze while the birds are chirping above. It's the perfect moment to be reading a classic romance on the couch. Not a thought runs in your head and you are merged into the fictional world of the book unaware of your boyfriend who had come back from his work and sees you.

He admires the natural beauty you possess exemplified by the hues of the sun rays decorating your skin giving it a yellow-golden glow. You look majestic with not a care in the world. Suguru forgets all the stresses and worries momentarily just standing behind observing you silently. Though it's early in your relationship, he already feels immense love for you and can't wait for the relationship to progress.

Suguru walks over ensuring to not make a single noise allowing nature to play its tune. He slowly approaches and uses his hands to try to gently grab onto your shoulders not to shock you too much, but the response you gave was not what he was expecting.

You flinch. You drop the book to the ground. As soon as you saw his hands reaching towards you, fear ran through your mind, unsure whether it will be the first time where Suguru will not treat you with love and affection and instead uses his caring hands to inflict pain upon you. You knew he would never. He wasn't like any other man you knew. He was the most kindest and loving boyfriend ever, respecting every wish of yours, but you wonder why did I react like that? Your eyes widen as you look back up at Suguru hoping he doesn't feel hurt by your reaction, but you recognize the pain and concern in his eyes. He knows that the way you flinched was not a normal reaction to being scared. The way your arms went up to shield your face and the look in your eyes, it was not normal.

"I'm sorry, I didn't realise it was you..." You reluctantly say looking down, praying he doesn't question you but you knew you had to tell him sooner or later.

"Y/N..." Suguru began talking and walks around, grabbing the fallen book placing it on the coffee table. He crouches on the floor looking up at you sitting on the couch holding your hands gently in his. You try to avoid his gaze which is so full of love and consideration for you. Tears threaten to fall out you glazed eyes which look oh so beautiful to Suguru. He lets the silence between you two fill the air, allowing you to take the time to talk to him.

Your hands squeeze his fingers tightly. You stare at his eyes and ponder whether to tell him or just cover it up.

"I'm sorry, I know you would never. I know you wouldn't....hit me. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to react like that" You rumble while your eyes dash across the room and you try to swallow the remaining saliva in your mouth.

"No. No. Nothings wrong my love, don't apologise. Just relax ok." He rubs your hand up and down. His voice is calm attempting to ease your tension.

"You can tell me ok. You're safe here baby. Did someone hit you before?"

You hesitate. The past memories of your ex flood your mind. The violence never stopped no matter how many times he promised. It numbed you. You never thought too much about it or you knew it would consume you.
Suguru squeezes your hand to reassure you that you can tell him anything.

"My ex. He used to hit me. The first time... I just said something he didn't like. He said he would never but it became worse. He never treated me the same. I ran and never looked back" you bravely whisper out staring down in your lap at Suguru's hand over yours.

Suguru's breath halted. He felt anger and pure hatred for the person who did this but understood that right now you needed his support and care. He couldn't understand how someone could ever think of laying a finger on you. Your everything to him, he cannot fathom how a beauty like you could be treated the way you had.

"Well done, love. You did so well. Thank you for telling me" He whispers back at you.

"Y/N you're safe here with me. I promise I will never, never touch you or hurt you in any way. I will protect you, ok?" His voice which was usually calm had certain rumble and passion within it.

Suguru grabs your hands which were intertwined with his to his lips and kisses them, staring back up at you. He stands up and moves you off the couch readjusting you to sit on his lap and cradles your body close to him, allowing your tears to spill and dampen his shirt. He understands how difficult it must have been to open up and recall all the memories. He rubs your back up and down with his hand. The whimpers and shaking of your breath hurts his heart and soul. He vows to himself that no matter what you are an angel that will be protected forever by him.

As your breath steadies, you push your head back up and look at your boyfriend, who gazes endearingly into your eyes.

"You look so pretty when you cry" He thinks but hasn't realised he muttered out loud until he hears a slight chuckle and sees your smile. Suguru smiles back enjoying the sight which he missed for a while.

He kisses the top of your head and for once in your life you feel truly safe and grateful to have met a man like Suguru.

"Remember angel, you're always safe by my side."
