it was finally the next day after school, and you were waiting for suna beside the gate.you couldn't deny the fact that you were nervous, very nervous even, but you tried convincing yourself otherwise. you pulled your phone out at least seven times in the past five minutes to make sure you looked decent enough.
each time you checked your reflection, you noticed a new 'flaw' that hadn't bothered you until now. whether it was a stray hair or the faintest wrinkle on your shirt, it pissed you right off. you took a deep breath, and reminded yourself that he's probably seen you in worse states during class or lunch, and he didn't hesitate to point it out either.
the school gate was slowly emptying out as students headed home or to their after school activities. the minutes began to stretch, and each one felt longer than the last. you were worried he ended up forgetting or he was just trying to act nonchalant, but right as you thought about that, you spotted him walking towards you.
he raised a hand in a lazy wave, "hey."
his voice seemed a bit too calm for your liking.
"hi," you replied, hoping you didn't sound as nervous as you actually were.
you couldn't deny the fact that earlier this morning you were manifesting that he wouldn't be annoying today. he always somehow finds a way to get under your skin.
"uh... should we go?" he asked, adjusting the strap of his bag.
you nodded, "yeah."
the two of you started walking, and fell into a tense silence. you were unsure of what you were supposed to talk about with him.
you couldn't help but occasionally glance at suna from the corner of your eye. his expression remained neutral the whole time, but there was something that pissed you off about him.
"so..." he started, breaking the uncomfortable silence. "is there anywhere you wanna go?" he asked.
"aren't we getting boba?" you questioned.
he nodded, "yeah, but where?"
"let's just go gongcha, its the closest," you suggested, slightly scared he would make a stupid remark.
instead, he simply nodded, making you wonder if he even cared or was just waiting to find something to criticise.
as you walked, the tension between you only seemed to grow with each step. you couldn't help but feel as though he was judging you, despite the fact that neither of you have said much.
—
you both finally reached the boba place.
suna let you enter first, which you found surprising. he followed in after you. the pair of you scanned the menu as you tried finding something you liked.
"what are you getting?" you asked, trying to start a conversation.
he looked around at the menu for a bit longer, "i'll probably just get my usual."
"which is?"
"red bean," he replied. "what about you?"
"i'll probably get matcha."
"that shit tastes like grass," he argued.
you both shifted towards the queue.
"i don't want to hear you talk when you picked red bean out of everything," you scoffed.
