ZERO WAS BORN INTO HELL.

Hell to an outsider, at least. If an unfortunate soul managed to find their way inside, past the armed security, the barbed wire lined fences, and wrought iron gates, there's no doubt that that's what they would think of their surroundings. But to Zero and her siblings? No, they weren't in Hell. How could they be? They had everything they could ever need. Company, food, water, a place to sleep, a loving Papa, and awesome superpowers to play with. What more could a growing child need?

Zero was proud, very proud, of the fact that she was the strongest out of her siblings. So strong, in fact, that her training stopped at the mere age of ten, meanwhile those much older than her — Two, for instance — had to keep going. She'd get to play in the Rainbow Room while the rest of them had to work. Of course, with great power must also come responsibility, and after one too many instances in which Zero would collapse to the floor after mere minutes of exercising her powers, the young girl was locked in her room with nothing but an old rickety bed and a bookshelf. For her safety, they said.

It took years of the same routine in that little room — wake up, eat, read, train, eat again, sleep, repeat — for Zero to become tired, bored, restless. She'd grown stronger, she'd become a better warrior, and yet, she remained confined. She'd finally had enough. So, she left. It wasn't all that hard, either. Nobody was paying any attention to her, nobody ever did, and the Lab had to have known that a locked door would be no deterrent to someone with telekinesis. Zero slipped outside into a cold, rainy November night with nowhere to go and nobody to run to.

Until she wound up in a trailer park, standing on Eddie Munson's front lawn, soaked to the bone from the rainwater.

Eddie Munson, a boy who she'd later find out was the town freak, a pariah, a complete and utter social outcast with no friends and the worst reputation she could imagine, took her in.

Zero just couldn't see Eddie as the monster Hawkins perceived him to be. Too kind. Too gentle. Too perfect. If this boy was a monster, then she had to wonder just how bad the actual monsters were.

If Eddie is a freak, then what does that make her?

DISCLAIMER:

OTHER INFO:
— so, this is a repost of a fic i originally wrote back in 2022. a bit of necessary context is that this fic originated as a steve fic, but after watching season 4, i realised that allison fit too perfectly with eddie to not pair them up.
— i originally discontinued this fic around the midpoint of season 2 in order to post a rewrite beginning at season 4, because it was an eddie munson fic with barely any eddie. however, after posting literally one chapter, i realised that that wouldn't work, because allison's character development in seasons 1-3 is too important to skip over, no matter how many flashbacks i'd weasel in. i'll sort this out way better this time around.
— i literally don't care if you choose to imagine will and murray as they are in the show, i just don't want them attached to this story tbh. i've chosen to recast them, you don't have to follow along with that, i just don't need to hear about it. thank you
— i love all of my ocs, but allison is the og. the star of the first fic i ever published on this account. ALSO, while editing this, i found this lil aesthetic board i made for allison and i still think it looks really cool so, enjoy.
