As she was sleeping peacefully in a pretty uncommon position, Mailie was awakened by the first light of dawn. She tried hard to get back to sleep, covering her head with her pillow, but nothing helped. She was forced to wake up, but was only half awake. Once on her feet, she reached for her phone and saw a message from one of her friends.
"Hey wanna hang out this afternoon?"
Her eyes widened, and the feeling of tiredness that had animated her a few moments earlier suddenly disappeared, giving way to a one of joy. Mailie hadn't had much time to get out and about in recent weeks, too busy working on her end-of-year project without much success. She wasted no time in answering him.
"Sure!! At Starbucks like we used to?"
After answering him, Mailie passed in front of her mirror and told herself she should make an effort with her clothes, or at least not just stay in her pajamas. She put on her favorite clothes.
The rest of her morning was no different from any other, Mailie was just so impatient that she decided to leave earlier than planned. With her camera and notebooks in her bag, she left her apartment. Living on the outskirts of the city, Mailie was less familiar with urban landscapes, having, for example, a forest right behind her building, where she spends most of her time photographing the animals there.
Instead of taking the bus, she decided to take a detour through that specific forest. Then, at the edge of the forest, she caught a glimpse of the sun's rays through the treetops. A light wind was blowing, birds were singing, giving an even more fantasy atmosphere to the place where she was alone in. She made her way through the forest until she came to one of her favorite spots, an abandoned train tunnel, where there was some magnificent vegetation. Mostly ivy and small blue flowers
After receiving a message from her friend asking how many minutes late she would be arriving, Mailie hurried to join him. Breathless but on time, she arrived at the café. The two friends began to talk, but it was then that Mailie's gaze turned to that of another girl who was leaving. As Eiji continued to speak to her, she only half-listened, and then she interrupted, asking him if he knew this girl.
"Uh, which girl are you talking about?"
"The one with floral dress and short hair"
Eiji, being a regular at this café, concentrated on trying to remember who it might be. Suddenly, he remembered and reopened his eyes to tell Mailie, but she had already left to ask another café employee. The employee, whose name tag read Morgane, was at first embarrassed by this request and caught off guard. But she couldn't refuse to give her colleague's first name to Mailie, whose eyes widened at the thought of her.
A few hours had passed since Mailie had managed to get the name of her muse, so back home, she decided to look her up on instagram. She didn't have to look for long before she came across her account. She took a moment before pressing the friend request button, then pressed it and went to bed, as stressed as she was impatient.
That night, she dreamed of the great array of things; from a wedding under the Eiffel Tower to a pony ride over a rainbow, she had exhausted every conceivable scenario. So in the early hours of the morning, when she heard the sound of a notification on her phone, she got up immediately.
*Laura Sayline has accepted your friend request*
Her face lit up, and a huge smile took the place of her usual undead face. When she opened the application, she saw that a message from her had also been sent.
