"i love writing songs," elliana speaks as she scans through the page she had just finished, "it's so therapeutic. like, i just get to express everything i feel and make it have a deep meaning, you know?"
matthew doesn't reply, instead he keeps watching her as she proudly reads her own song, her smile getting bigger as she reads it. he's aware that she just said something, but he's too out of it to give her an answer. too in love to look away and think about words and conversations when he can just stare at her all day.
when a few seconds pass and matt doesn't respond, she looks down at him from her sitting position while he's laying down, not breaking the eye contact. "what?"
"nothing," he finally responds in a softer voice, a small grin overtaking his features. "you're just beautiful."
elliana feels her cheeks heat up and she instantly looks away from the boy, a giggle threatening to leave her lips. she loves and hates the effect he has on her. she loves the way he makes her feel, but she knows if he'd decide to leave it would crush her in million peaces. such a silly thing, love.
"look at me, ellie," he whispers as his hand reaches her face and he pulls her head closer to him. she lays down from her previous position and now she knows she can't avoid his blue eyes as she faces him directly. "you really can't hold eye contact, huh?"
"i usually think i can," her tone is light and matt's eyes soften, "you just make me nervous."
but she doesn't look away this time. she knows what's about to happen when matt's thumb finds his way to her jaw as the rest of his fingers touch the start of some of her hair. she leans in slowly, almost teasingly and he breaks the distance between them as he kisses her. he could never be this close to her and not kiss her immediately, he knows she's a weakness of his.
the kiss is passionate yet gentle, it has them both melting under each other's influence. elliana eventually pulls away to catch a breath and opens her eyes, as matt does the same. she examines his features for a moment before inching a tad bit closer and whispering a quiet "i love you."
matt grins boyishly as he always does when she says these three words. it makes him all warm inside and his hand goes deeper into her hair as he starts massaging her. "yeah, how much?"
"so much that all of my songs are love songs cause of you."
