Selene walked through the Washington woods, stepping over small logs and brushing past thousands of ferns.

"Ullr?" She called out while pushing branches from a bush out of her path, "Did you use witchcraft to curse Vor?"

Her husband, who was ahead of her and pushing a large log out of the way to make a clearer path, scoffed with a shake of his head.

Still wearing his tunic, his muscular arms were on show. He had a subtle limp on the leg with stitching, but it would've been unintelligible if she didn't know him so damn well. He was trying to hide it.

"If I did, Jord would've amputated my limbs." He darkly chuckled. Due to his scowling face and deep tone, it was hard for acquaintances to decipher if he was joking or not.

She remembered that Jord was the god that gave Ullr his powers. She was the personification of Nature, both cruel and beautiful in her own right. Considering witchcraft was not natural or intended, she had a bone to pick with Freyja.

River followed closely behind Selene, quietly listening to their conversation. Her mate would've come with her, but his job has become considerably demanding recently.

Selene giggled, "Another mystery about your god-like power?" She teased, padding past the moved log while avoiding critters scampering away.

"God-like?" He looked back at her, "I am a god, fnteba."
[Doll.]

The pale goddess beamed mischievously, "Well, I'm sorry, Mr. God."

River couldn't help but giggle at their banter as she brushed past a bush. "Is this how all your hikes go?" she asked.

Ahead was a small cliff that led to the bed of a rocky river. The siblings explained that they had to cross the Skyomish River to get to the old battlegrounds.

As they stepped down a small cliff, Selene helped her niece step down by taking her hand, "You have no idea," The Goddess smiled and leaned closer to River, "It's like travelling with a gorilla." She whispered.

"I have the hearing of a wax moth and the vision of an eagle," her husband's deep voice said as he picked up a fallen tree and raised it in the air.

Riot stepped down the slope behind them before gaping at the god's show of strength.

She had lagged earlier, instinctively wanting to tail them from the rear to ensure their safety, but this was the closest she'd gotten to them during their hiking trip.

"What makes you think I didn't hear that?" He stopped to raise a brow at his wife, lips angled down in a frown. His beard was slightly dirty from constantly clearing a pathway for them. This man never cared much for cleanliness.

River shrank into herself, intimidated by his unreadable expression.

Despite this, Selene grinned mischievously, "Fú́fei, maybe your ears were too hairy!"
