This chapter talks about the advantages and disadvantages of having pets and the apocalypse and why pets are family

Why you should take care of your animals in a zombie apocalypse

Look, I am not going lie taking care of pets will negatively drain your resources and many of the cons out weigh the pros. However, using this cold hard logic a human baby or young child would also just be a drain on resources. So why would someone (hopefully) not abandon a child in a emergency? Because they are family that is why. You should not abandon your cats or/and dogs for this same reason.

Note: I am not saying you have a duty to take care of every stray out there, but I am informing you that for the animals you have already taken in, you have made a promise to them

Common opinons on pets in the apocalypse

Many people out there view cats and dogs as a useless in the apocalypse or worse they view them only as a living food bank for when supplies get low. However Dogs and cats are humanity's best friends becuase they have served us and have been members of our family since the dawn of history. I will now discuss the advantages and disadvantages of pets in the apocalypse.

Both pets are scientifically proven to help reduce stress for humans

Cats

Cats have long served as pest control, hunting mice and other rodents, which eat our food and spread disease. Cats will only continue to do this in the apocalypse. However make sure to keep them inside during the apocalypse.

Dogs

Many people view the dog's bark as a dinner bell which rings for the undead to converge on your location. Mabye so, if you are traveling. However, if at home this is an great advantage as it serves as early warning system for when the dead are near. What if you are asleep and a zombie breaks into your house? Your dog will surely let you know. A disadvantage is that dogs cannot be easily potty trained like cats.
