Lying down, a sigh of relief escaped my lips while the day's events replayed in my brain, as I stared blankly at my ceiling. Suddenly, the Hallmark romance scenes of me and Philip were replaying making me blush in excitement.

Unconsciously, I drifted off into a slumber with the sound of the mellow summer rain and the quick flash from the lightning that struck the already punished streets.

" Beep... Beep!!" my alarm clock went off and woke me. I got up sluggishly and dismissed the alarm off my phone before lying facedown on my pillow.

Three more hours passed, and when I was awakened this time by saliva pasted on my face, it was my dog Milo licking my face. It was as if he was telling me it was time for breakfast as he started barking at me and wobbling his tail.

My stomach abruptly groaned as I pat Milo. I quickly got up, freshened up and then did a good stretching. After this, I headed downstairs to make breakfast. As I went downstairs I heard the sound of cups, forks and plates being placed on the table.

I froze in my steps, as the scent of rosemary, doughboy and codfish wafted in my nostrils giving me a warm fuzzy feeling. I decided to peep to make sure it was Aunty Evelyn and not a thief making himself at home.

As I peeped, no one was in sight which caused me to be frightened and trembling. I searched around the kitchen when I saw the pantry door wide open.

Seeing this, I walked towards the entrance and I saw no one. This caused me to start panicking frantically. As I turned around to get to the house phone to dial 911, I was met face-to-face with Aunt Evelyn.

"Got yuh!!" she shouted, making me scream like a goat in shock. "Eeh, haha!" Aunt Evelyn laughed as she placed her hand on her belly.

"It's not funny," "I could have peed myself." I lamented with frowned eyebrows, as I approached the dining table. Before taking my seat, I went and gave Milo his breakfast and washed and dried my hands.

Finally, I was seated at the table, savouring every taste of the well-done codfish. Midway through dining, Aunt Evelyn stopped ranting about her weekend out and questioned me about how my vacation was going so far.

"Alright, that's enough about me," Aunt Evelyn said. "Did you find your summer job yet Dear?" she asked, patting my hand.

"Well, hmm...not really," I replied as I piled my scattered codfish to one side of my plate. "What do you mean not really?" Aunt questioned with a worried frown.

"Well, I sent in my application at the cafe shop nearby and I haven't got a response yet," I answered truthfully. "Well, you can always find another job to apply for," Aunt responded reassuringly.

"True," I said in acknowledgement. However, in my mind, I was hoping to get a job at the cafe because it's nearer home. I also didn't want her to worry about my safety.

After eating breakfast, I washed the dishes and helped Aunty Evelyn clean the house before chasing Milo around to catch and bathe him.

I was upstairs giving Milo a bath when the house phone rang and Aunt Evelyn answered. "Hello," she greeted. "Hello, is this Maria Jones.?" asked the manager.

"No, I'm her aunt but I can take the message for her," she replied. "This is the manager of café Arno and I'm just calling to notify her that she got the job" the manager stated.

"I'll let her know." Aunt Evelyn replied smiling. "She starts on Monday," the manager said before hanging up the phone.

I had just finished drying Milo when Aunt Evelyn entered the bathroom with a smile plastered on her face. "Guess what?!" she squealed.

"What?" I questioned eager to hear the good news I suppose. "The manager of Arno café just called....". she said followed by a suspension. "And... What did the manager say?" I questioned impatiently.

"Dear..." Aunt Evelyn muttered as she held my hand. At this point, I guess it was not what I wanted to hear but noticing my downcast appearance Aunt Evelyn knew it was time to quit playing games.

"You got the job!" she shouted with joy. "Humph... " I let out a sigh of relief. "And you start on Monday." Aunt Evelyn notified me before leaving my room.

"Yes!." I shouted triumphantly as I patted Milo's head.

The Weekend.*

Rude by magic starts to play

It was Saturday morning and I had a date with THE Philip Walker. (yes, I still couldn't believe that this was happening. The boy I crushed on for two years finally takes me on a date.)

"Oh, what a time to be alive and be me," I whispered in front of the mirror, applying strawberry lipgloss to my plumped cracked lips.

In my denim shorts, pink crop top and white Crocs decorated with my initials as stickers, I grabbed my white Crocs purse covered in stickers and went downstairs.

"Auntie, I'm leaving now! " I shouted from the doorsteps. "Wait a second!" she shouted in response from the garden. Aunt Evelyn made her way towards me with the garden spade in her hand, her eyes then seized me up and down from head to toe.

After doing this, she looked at Philip who already arrived and was approaching the doorsteps and questioned; "That's the guy?" "Yes," I replied, nervous about how she might react.

Finally, Philip was now standing face to face with us and I was nervous about what Aunt Evelyn might say to him cause I for sure knew that her mouth had no filter.

"Good day, aunt, I'm Philip Walker." Philip introduced himself to her. "Good day, young man I guess you're the guy taking my niece out ?" Auntie questioned Philip.

"Yes, I am these are for you ma'am," Philip answered nervously before giving a bouquet of tulips. "Thank you!" she said with a smile plastered on her face as she received the bouquet.

"You two should get going.", "Don't keep her out late or else I'll see to it that your ride turns into a pumpkin and that you never see Cinderella again." Aunt Evelyn warned playfully before we left.
