Here comes another adventure.
Few things came to mind while I was on my way to the Insect Pillar's mansion — Butterfly Estate, as they call it. I had the same questions in mind when I hadn't met Kanroji-san yet but this time, I was less anxious.
Surely if Kanroji-san was kindhearted, the next pillars would be of the same essence. Wouldn't they?
Kanroji-san told me a brief description of the Insect Pillar before I went on my journey. She thinks that due to the fact that we are of the same physique, petite and lacking in the physical abilities a demon slayer must possess to behead a demon, Oyakata-sama arranged for me to train under her next.
She has medical expertise and uses Wisteria poison to kill demons. Given her small frame, she is faster than most. I would love to hear more about her, but then knowing Kanroji-san, she just proceeded to ramble about how cute the Insect Pillar is and forgot to tell me more HELPFUL information.
The walk to the Butterfly Estate was pretty easy compared to the one I took to the Love Pillar's estate. It wasn't significantly closer, so I'm guessing the countless rounds I did with Kanroji-san paid off. That doesn't mean it wasn't tiring, though.
Mr. Crow, on the other hand here, keeps glancing behind him. Was it his way of checking up on me out of goodwill or did I traumatize him into thinking I would faint any time after spending so much walking under the sun? I guess I'll never know. Unless I ask.
Should I ask? But he kept ignoring me the last time I tried to talk to him!
I cleared my throat and thought about what I could talk to him about.
"Uh Mr. Crow, how should I address you? You aren't as talkative now as you were before so... I can't really call you Mr. Talkative Crow now." I gave him a cheeky smile.
He scoffed and hey, call me weird but that made me happy! I didn't expect a reply, much less a reaction. A few minutes had passed and we didn't stop but he also didn't talk. Just right before I let go of it, he spoke.
"I am Kawasemi, Kyogoku-san." Was all he said. So he plans to be the silent type now huh?!
"Kawasemi... as in kingfisher? Are you good at catching fish, Kawa-san?" I asked.
"Well, yes. My name means kingfisher but it doesn't necessarily mean that I am a king when it comes to capturing fish. To be honest, I don't even know where and why they named me that. It is totally out of my character." he replied while I laughed inside. He's back to being talkative. That's great!
We spent the rest of the journey answering and asking questions about each other back and forth. I learned more about Kawasemi-san. He apparently dislikes walking up late which honestly shows and he has a family that works for the Ubuyashiki family, too. And although he isn't that great at fishing, he likes salmon which potentially endangers my earnings as a demon slayer if I were to feed him... and if I were to become an official slayer in the future.
I would've never learned that a crow could have that much personality. Maybe even more than me. But to sum it up, by the time we reached the gates of the Butterfly Estate, we'd found out almost all of our favorites.
Upon arriving, three girls were standing at the entrance. They all looked alike so I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Good thing their hairstyles were different so I didn't think I was going crazy hallucinating.
