chapter 5: roommate

Pond's POV

After minutes of driving, we finally arrived at our destination. My manager gave me my stuff and helped me carry it to my room.

Manager:
"Oh, I forgot to tell you, Pond, you'll have a roommate."

Pond:
"A roommate? But what if he puts my location on social media?"

Manager:
"Don't worry, we got him to sign a contract, so if he does that, we can press charges on him."

Pond:
"Alright then."

Manager:
"I'll get going then."

Pond:
"I'll walk you outside then."

After saying goodbye to my manager, I walked into the elevator when someone screamed.

???:
"Don't close the elevator!!"

I put my hands on the closing door, and it opened back up.

???:
"Thank you."

He said as he entered the elevator. I thought he was a stalker, but I figured he wasn't as he looked back at his phone.

I didn't mean to look at his phone when I saw Dunk on his lock screen.

I figured he was a fan of Dunk, so I ignored him until I arrived at the floor of the apartment.

He was following me to the same apartment, so I got suspicious.

Pond:
"Excuse me, but are you following me?"

I said as I reached the door to the apartment.

???:
"No, I'm going to be living here."

Then I realized he was my roommate that the manager was talking about.

Phuwin:
"You must be my new roommate. I'm Phuwin."

He smiled.

Pond:
"Nice to meet you. I'm Pond."

I opened the apartment door as he walked inside, and I sat on the couch, so he did.

Pond:
"Are you a fan of Dunk?"

His smile dropped, but he smiled again. I found it weird but didn't think too much.

Phuwin:
"Why would you say that?"

Pond:
"I accidentally saw your lock screen in the elevator. I'm sorry for looking at your phone."

Before I could continue, he changed the subject.

Phuwin:
"Have you eaten?"

Pond:
"Not yet. Why? Are you going to cook?"

He laughed slightly.

Phuwin:
"No, there's still no food since we just moved in, so I'm ordering food."

Pond:
"Oh, right. I forgot we still have no food."

I said, scratching my head.

Phuwin:
"I'll order you something then."

After a few minutes, food arrived. Phuwin took the food and placed it on the table.

We both ate when Phuwin looked at me, trying to find his laugh.

Pond:
"Yes?"

I said, confused when he suddenly wiped my mouth and cleaned his hands with a tissue.

I was shocked and confused as he continued eating like nothing happened.

After a few minutes, we were done eating; he was washing the dishes, and I was on the couch on my phone.

After a minute, he sat back with me when my phone rang. It was Dunk calling me.

I didn't realize my phone volume was too loud.

Pond:
"Why are you calling, Dunk?"

Dunk:
"How's the new apartment treating you?"

Pond:
"I have a roommate, but it's fine."

Dunk:
"Really? What's their name?"

Pond:
"It's something with a Phu."

Dunk:
"Alright, see you tomorrow."

He ends the call as I put my phone down. My roommate was looking at me.

Phuwin:
"Your call volume was too loud. I could hear everything. Also, I'm Phuwin."

Pond:
"Oh? I didn't notice."

He stood up and walked to the room, but he left his phone on the table.

His phone got a notification, making me see his lock screen more clearly.

It was Dunk and him taking a selfie together. I was confused as he came back looking for his phone.

I tried to act normal from what I saw.

Phuwin:
"Have you seen my phone?"

Pond:
"It's on the table."

I handed him his phone as he walked back to the room.

After a few minutes, I finally went to the room. I saw him sleeping. I wondered what his relationship with Dunk was.

I got in my bed and slept, but I couldn't. I was awake until my alarm went off.

I just couldn't sleep for some reason. I didn't know why.
