Drops of water could be heard from the running faucet, its steady stream of water filling the silence of the room. Stacey stood in front of the steamy mirror, her eyes locked on her own reflection. What went wrong? She let out a slow breath, trying to gather her thoughts. Her mind was full of questions, and exhaustion could be felt inside the room. The bruises on her face didn't bother her.
Suddenly, a knock came from outside the bathroom door, shattering the silence. She immediately switched off the faucet and left the bathroom. Stacey turned the door knob, revealing the mayor. Alice is wearing a pink hoodie and black joggers. Her chinita eyes are behind her spectacles; she has a big smile while her eyes slowly disappear. The girl outside the room is indeed cute and attractive, but the taller person might not see it despite her having big eyes.
Stacey's hair was in a hot mess and was sweaty, and her clothes appeared to be soaking wet. "Hindi ko alam na may sauna na pala sa loob ng banyo?" she spoke in a joking manner while letting out a small laugh.
Meanwhile, the mayor attempted to wipe off her sweat, but the fiscal pulled back.
The atmosphere was filled with awkwardness because of the silence.
"Kumain na nga lang tayo"
"Bawal tumanggi sa pagkain" The Chinita girl held Stacey's hand, dragging her to the dining room
"And after kumain, magpalit ka ng damit."
As the mayor pulled the fiscal, Stacey winced, feeling the bruises scattered across her body. Alice noticed, momentarily forgetting that the woman in all-black clothing had been covered in blood earlier.
"Sorry"
"It's okay" The taller girl responded, giving her a bit of assurance.
Alice gave her a smile, then walked towards the dining area while the other girl just followed behind.
As they approached the dining room, the aroma of home-cooked meals, prepared by the young mayor's helpers, filled the air. It was loud and chaotic in the kitchen, which Stacey is not used to having in her house.
"Mayora, good morning po" One of her helpers greeted her "At?" she looked at Stacey
"Fiscal Reyes po" sagot naman ng mayora
"Ahhh, magandang umaga po" pagbati naman ni Reyes sa mga ito
"Nakahanda na po yung agahan niyo sa lamesa"
Tumango naman ang mayora at nagtungo na sila sa hapag-kainan. Naka-hain na ang mga pagkain sa lamesa, simple man ang mga ito ngunit mukhang nababalot ito ng pagmamahal. Mayroong tuyo, itlog na maalat, tapa, at sinangag.
Ganito ang normal na umaga para sa mayora, ngunit iba naman para sa fiskal. Madalas, hindi ito nag-aagahan o kaya naman ay bumibili na lamang sa labas ng makakain.
Naupo na ang dalawa sa hapag-kainan. Napansin ng mayora na tinapay lamang ang kinukuha ni Reyes, habang siya naman ay naglagay ng tuyo, itlog na maalat, at sinangag sa kanyang plato.
Tila ibang umaga para kay Reyes. Hindi ito sanay kumain ng agahan, at karaniwan, ang mundo nito ay umiikot lang sa opisina. Kapag kumakain man ito ng agahan, sandwich lang ang kinakain.
"Kaya pala ang sexy mo" sambit ng mayora at nilagyan ng kanin ang plato ng fiskal. "Dagdagan mo pa, huwag kang mahiya"
"Mayora kape niyo po" Dumating na si Carla, ang personal assistant niya, na may hawak na tablet. Inilapag naman niya ang kape ng mayor sa lamesa.
"Kain ka" pag-aaya nito
"Hindi na po" tinaggihan ni Carla ang alok ng mayora na kumain
"Ahh, ano nga po pala ngayon po yung pagbubukas ng mga bagong classroom sa Dapdap"
