Chapter 18: Stiix and stones

The chugging-like sound of a train could be heard as it ran through the desert and rocky area, towards stiix. The ninja--who had once been chasing after this very train--sat inside one of the boxcar's with the boxcar's door slid open. There had actually been some silence amongst the group, with Cole actually being asleep; his head currently resting comfortablely on some of the small bales of hay inside the boxcar.

Only zane and kai remain awake, with kai looking out the open boxcar door while zane sat beside cole, silently trying to power off. However, something was nagging at him, and pixel couldn't help but feel worried.

|"zane.. I couldn't help but notice that something is bothering you.. would you like to discuss it?"| pixel worriedly asked, with zane quietly sighing. |"I suppose it is something pixel.. or rather.. everything.. so much has happened lately.. and so fast.. boboiboy is possessed by some revenge seeking spirit, lloyd is unconscious, we have no clue where jay is, and after that arugement between kai and cole.. it just feels like the air between us as a team is rather stiff.."| zane replied, with pixel quietly listening.

|"Zane, while I am aware a lot is happening, the least we can do is dread about such things after the battle"| pixel advised, taking the approach of taking in the subject as a whole after everything happened. However, the ice ninja saw it differently, looking over at kai and having an idea.

Zane pushing himself upright and into a standing position, before walking over to kai and sitting down beside the fire ninja. While pixel was going to zane what he was doing, she decided to just watch how this played out.

Kai did spare a glance over to zane, but focused his attention back on the sand and rocky terrain outside moments after; remaining quiet. And with that, zane finally decided to speak up, "kai? Is something wrong?" He'd ask, hating how that was all he could think of to start up a conversation; of course something was wrong!

Kai just sighed and dryly chuckled, "zane, buddy, I think you know the answer to that" he'd reply looking down. The ice ninja nodded in agreement, with kai finally looking up and over towards him. "This is about me and cole isn't it?" He'd ask, and zane would glance away before nodding.

"Look, zane.. it's fine, I'm not bother by what happened or anything okay? It's alright" kai insisted, with zane scoffing. "Kai that is far from the truth and you know it" the nindroid replied.

Kai gave zane a rather annoyed look unlike the ice ninjas calm and serious one. "Oh, and how do you know huh?!" He'd reply, still keeping his volume down to not awake cole.

"Kai. We have been frie- brothers. For years now. You think I wouldn't notice?" He'd reply, with kai trying to find something to argue against it only to groan in frustration when he had nothing.

Zane would then soften his expression his expression, resting a hand on kai's shoulder and quietly waiting for the fire ninja to speak. At last, kai gave up fighting and looked down, "I just.. it's all my fault okay!" He'd reply, raising his hands to grab his hair.

"Kai.. it isn't your fau-" "Of course it is!" He'd cut zane off, lifting his head up and giving him a serious look. "I shouldn't notice something was wrong and stopped boboiboy and lloyd- or even went with them to the museum! I should've never let jay go and fight him in that form on his own! Cole had every right to slap me!" Kai explained, and that was the final straw for zane as he pulled kai into a hug.
