The air was muffled with dread and turmoil, the sun that was spilling from the window with its golden confidence cowered back into the sky. Jones darted to his window, peering through the pane, seeking answers to this surreal phenomenon.

He saw the rays fade away as the ominous cloud cast a silhouette, draping across the suburban abodes and residents alike. His eyes darted across the land's features, with uncertainty and a thousand questions swirling in his head. The once luscious green grass, paled in color as the foreboding clouds hovered over it, sapping the life and purity out of them.

The healthy emerald leaves and trees themselves shriveled. The once ethereal green leaves, radiate enchantment, crumpling into an unforgiving brown. The trees' bulk slowly withered, and rotted. Jones's shoulders sagged, he couldn't help but believe this was the beginning of doomsday.

"Of course on the weekend," Jones dug his face into his palms, grumbling. "Why couldn't it be any other day?!" He glared at the tarnished lands and the foreboding clouds. "Just perfect."

Feeling a mix of desperation and indignation, Jones frowned and immediately paced around his bedroom, his mind racing as he tried to piece the chaos to a semblance of sense.

"What is just going on here?!" He hissed, maybe he accidentally stole an ancient artifact... or maybe he accidentally murmured some forbidding line of text under his breath... Jones shook his head. "But that doesn't make sense..." His hand ran through his hair. "I don't understand-"

Shattering his contemplation, there was a rhythmic yet sinister knock at his front door. With turmoil ringing through his mind and with silent whispers to ignore it, curiosity won the mental warfare and Jones's chest heaved, steeling himself to approach the door. With tentative steps, he traversed from his sleep quarters to the living room, turning on the living room light.

And there he was, his heart pounding as the door loomed over him. Jones lagged as he wrapped his hand over the knob, his heart paced rapidly and his mind froze as he held his breath. With closed eyes and gritted teeth, Jones swung the door.

Jones opened an eye, seeing an anthropomorphic orange cat, wearing a jet-black tailored suit, standing tall and towering. The rich orange tapestry of his fur rippled from the violent winds of the tempest, grinning wickedly as he sensed Jones's uncertainty. Thunder crackled and roared nearby, making the ground tremble in its wake before the cat's golden striking eyes narrowed into slits as he leaned forward.

The cat's grin grew with amusement, his tail swished uncontrollably. "Hello Jonesy! Did I scare you?"

Jones felt a wave of frustration and relief wash over him as he furrowed his brows. "Felix! You scared the crap out of me! And my name is Jones."

Felix leaned back, waving dismissively, his golden eyes sparked with amusement. "Jones, Jonesy, tomato, tomato same thing."

Jones pointed to the on-raging catastrophe outside, his frustration mounting every passing moment, narrowing his eyes. "Felix, what is happening out there? It looks like an apocalypse."

Felix glanced to the outside and looked back at him with a playful smile as if any of this was normal. "Oh, that was my dramatic entrance!" Felix gestured to the grocery bags in paw. "I came from the store! Got some necessities for the house, cleaning supplies, toiletries, food, and- Ooo! Some of your favorite chocolates!"

"Dramatic entrance?" Jones echoed, incredulity in his voice. "You nearly destroyed the neighborhood for some chocolates?"

Felix leaned against the doorframe, his tail flicking lazily as he unsheathed a claw and used it as a toothpick. "Oh c'mon! You act like I was trying to destroy the world."
