//Chapter 14//

—---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It had been a week since you found Nick in that abandoned building, and you couldn't shake the feeling that it was a setup. There were so many red flags throughout the whole experience, and half the time you felt like a lost sheep trying to make sense of it all.

Each passing day seemed surreal. Strange things kept happening without respite. Isaiah not being who he seemed, discovering Nick after his kidnapping, and the bizarre encounter with Monty killing that monster—it was all too much.

Needing a break from the chaos of your hometown, you decided to take a vacation. As you packed your clothes in Isaiah's house, you realized you had left some belongings in Monty's room at the Pizza Plex.

The decision to swing by the Pizza Plex to pick up the last of your items was made with a mix of determination and reluctance. You hoped to avoid running into Monty; his unpredictable nature would only complicate your plans to leave town.

Navigating cautiously through the dimly lit hallways of the Pizza Plex, you took care to avoid any encounters with the animatronics. Sneaking into Monty's green room, you quickly located your backpack and the other items you had left behind during your brief stay.

Just as you were about to breathe a sigh of relief, a sudden creaking noise behind you shattered the silence. Your heart skipped a beat as you turned slowly to see the door on the far side of the room slowly swinging open.

To your surprise, it was Montgomery Gator, now in his glam rock attire, standing there before you. You stared for a moment, taking in the sight of the imposing figure with his shoulder blades accentuating his massive biceps. It was strange—you had seen him hundreds of times, but this time, he seemed different.

"Y/n, what are you doing?" His voice was unexpectedly calm and caring.

Caught off guard by his presence, you struggled to find words. "Uh, I... I came to pick up my things. I left some stuff here," you managed to say, trying to keep your tone steady despite the nerves.

Monty's expression softened slightly. "I see. I'm sorry if I startled you. It's just... unusual to find you in my room." He approached slowly, his movements surprisingly graceful for someone of his size.

"I didn't mean to intrude," you replied, feeling a bit more at ease with his composed demeanor.

"No worries. You're welcome here anytime," Monty said, a faint hint of a smile playing on his lips. "I was kinda hoping you came to see me."

"Well, I guess I also wanted to say goodbye before my trip," you said.

"Where are you going? Are you going with anybody?" Monty asked, a little worried.

"I was going to go by myself, back to the countryside just to enjoy some peace," you said.

"Going alone? Y/n, I don't know if that's safe. Please, I worry for you after what happened to Isaiah. Let me come with you," he said earnestly.

"Monty, I appreciate your concern, truly," you began carefully. "But this trip is something I need to do on my own. I just need some time away from everything that's been happening here."

Monty's expression softened further, his tail now swaying gently behind him. "I understand," he replied, though a hint of disappointment lingered in his eyes. "I can respect that."

You nodded, grateful for his understanding. "Thank you, Monty. And I do appreciate your offer to come with me."

His smile returned, albeit slightly subdued. "Of course. I'll respect your space, Y/n. Just promise me you'll stay safe out there."
