The Tragedy

Youngblood raced through the halls of the college, his heart pounding as he skidded around a corner and ducked off into a side corridor. He glanced over his shoulder to see if he'd lost Noise before even slowing down a fraction.

He knew it was no use to try to hide. Noise wasn't an animal, but his senses were stronger and much more toned than an average humanoid's, especially when he felt the thrill of the chase.

Youngblood took a few seconds to stop and slump against the wall, panting and clutching his side. He hadn't given a second thought to how tiring running was, as he had only really ever done it when he knew for a fact that it was life or death and his adrenaline was at a peak. He didn't exactly want to take the chance to try and talk Noise down, but his mind wouldn't dismiss the possibility that Noise could snap out of the king's control with a bit of convincing.

He jolted and whipped his head around to see Noise slide around the corner, his claws gouging deep lines in the tile floor. Youngblood groaned and bolted off down the rest of the hallway, hearing the rapid slaps of Noise's boots against the ground slowly gaining on him. He silently thanked the gods that the guards were staying out of his way for this. Of course, this hadn't been the first time that the king had sent Noise after some poor unfortunate soul, so the vast majority of the inhabitants knew well to stay out of view during chases.

Youngblood's vision blurred slightly after around twenty minutes of sprinting around the campus, and he took a few more turns before stopping again. His hand went to grab the hilt of his sword, but he stopped himself quickly, appalled by the urge. He didn't want to hurt Noise, even though he wasn't sure what would happen to him if Noise caught him. Noise was his. His love. His friend. His everything. And he was under someone else's control. Besides, Youngblood had vowed to never hurt him again.

His mind drifted to the ring on his hand as his breathing managed to steady itself enough for him to think clearly. He closed his eyes and leaned back against the wall a bit, taking it off and feeling the weight of it in his other hand.

His eyes snapped open as he heard a low snarl and he pushed off the wall, but he wasn't fast enough to get away again. Noise pounced on him, claws sinking into his shoulders this time. His vision blurred again as he fell back, his head hitting the tile and the wind being knocked out of him as he blindly reached up to push Noise off of him.

Youngblood cried out as Noise's claws tore into his sides and arms. He made the mistake of moving one hand down to clutch a deep gash in his side, and Noise quickly pinned his other hand, lunging for his throat with his teeth bared.

"NOISE NO-"

Youngblood's plea was swiftly cut off as Noise's jaw snapped shut around his neck. White-hot pain flooded Youngblood's senses and he tried to struggle, but every slight movement wracked him with pain. His head started to feel fuzzy as a white blur started to form around the edges of his vision. The pain stabbing through him slowly faded to a dull buzz throughout his body as he struggled to breathe.

Suddenly, everything was too much, yet not enough at the same time. The lights were too bright, but he knew it was dark. The floor was too cold, yet he could barely feel it. Noise's screams and cries of agony as he realized what he had done were too loud, but sounded so far away.

Noise..

Youngblood forced himself to focus again, fighting the exhaustion that had settled over him enough to see Noise looking down at him, cradling him in his arms.

"No no no, Youngblood, no, I'm sorry I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to.." Noise sobbed, his eye wide in shock as he desperately pressed his hand to Youngblood's wounds, trying to stop the bleeding.

"I didn't mean to, I didn't.. please, please, I just got you back! Don't leave me, Youngblood, please!" he cried, his body shaking as tears flowed steadily down his face, dripping onto Youngblood's.

Youngblood looked up at Noise and it took every ounce of strength to give his lover's hand a comforting squeeze. One that told him of Youngblood's forgiveness. Of his understanding. Of his acceptance to Noise's proposal. Noise's breath hitched and another wave of tears was wrenched out of him with a sob as he felt the ring he had so lovingly had crafted for his partner was tenderly placed in his palm. Youngblood shifted slightly as the white clouding his eyes faded to black, nodding ever so slightly as he laid his face against Noise's chest and closed his eyes.
