INTO THE NEW.
Nina recently relocated to Bangalore in order to begin a new work, life, and career, as well as to explore whatever the future may hold. She was content living in a PG 3 sharing room until her enjoyment was shattered by privacy invasion, which became an excuse to quit the cramped lifestyle. She prayed to find a better place with better roommates who would not intrude. Sometimes they say that if you pray with all your might, things will happen, and it did. Nina got a room in a two-bedroom house with a quiet flatmate who is also an autophile.
One month of solitude passed; the delight of being alone is pure tranquilly. Nina enjoyed her own company, but she found her housemate mysterious and wanted to know more about her. She made several attempts to converse but failed. Nina had an introduction session when she first moved in. That was the only interaction she had with her flatmate, Jessie; the room was quiet, and the door was locked the entire time. Nina, in pursuit of newness, is now always suspicious of her mystery housemate; it appears that being an autophile has its own set of risks.
INSIDE THE NUTSHELL.
Nina became restless; she was OK with being left alone, but the inconvenience of not being disturbed was more unsettling. Nina avoided socialising with her colleagues in order to avoid unrealistic obsessions and commitments. However, Nina only had one friend, Kiara, who lives in Mysuru, her hometown. She continued to share everything over FaceTime every weekend. Kiara suggested Nina break in and examine Jessie's room. Nina had a concept and was persuaded to solve the mystery. Nina quickly found the key and broke into Jessie's room after she left the house.
The place was pristine and resembled a movie set with an aesthetic from a bygone age; it seemed too unusual to be real, so Nina became suspicious and searched through many of Jessie's belongings but found nothing suspicious. Nina was afraid of getting caught in the deed, and as she was ready to step out, she saw blood streaks beneath the carpet. As she opened the carpet, she discovered a secret entrance coated in blood streaks that led to the basement.
Nina hesitated to explore the secret door, so she quickly covered the carpet and returned to her room. As she opened the door, she was surprised to find Jessie waiting for her. Nina was startled; Jessie calmed her down and began confessing about herself. Jessie stated that this area was previously a vampire's lair, but they departed due to the HIV virus infection, which sounds ridiculous but is true. Nina couldn't stop herself from laughing, and Jessie giggled as well, claiming that these are unexplored world facts.
Jessie also mentioned that she is an apprentice to a prominent witch and practises witchcraft. Nina giggled again, but this time Jessie was serious. Jessie stated that she practiced conjuring spirits here, but the blood smears on the basement door were left by a former inmate who was a vampire. Nina began giggling aloud and asked Jessie to stop tugging her legs. Jessie remained cool and offered Nina to join her for dinner in her room; Nina readily accepted the invitation.
DATE NIGHT.
Nina dressed well for the dinner, and when she entered Jessie's room, she discovered it was fully decked with candles and incense blazing, creating a snappy atmosphere. Nina reclined on the couch with an uneasy smile, suspecting Jessie of working as a set director for films. Jessie stated that after the supper, she will take Nina to the spiritual world, which will be an unforgettable experience. Jessie had cooked some non-vegetarian food and had it set up on her small dining table. They began their supper with lengthy chats, but as time went, Nina became suspicious and began to accept what Jessie said.
After a while, Jessie forced Nina to sit in a special ornate chair and began reciting charms. Nina was terrified when the candles were turned off one by one, and the room went dark. Nina felt other people in the room, Jessie began speaking with them, Nina couldn't move, she felt the chair was holding her, Nina shouted loudly but no voice came out, she couldn't feel her body and began crying and praying, the date night had turned bitter. Nina begged Jessie to leave her, and then everything got quiet and the lights turned on, and she saw Jessie transform from spirit to human. Everything made obvious now, and Jessie murmured, "Our eyes are deceptive, but the truth lies in the experience."
Nina was released by an enchanted ornate chair. Jessie then remarked that she had mastered conjuring and that it was time for her to leave this place in quest of fresh witchcraft activities. Nina, transfixed, simply shook her head and walked away in quiet, as if she had witnessed something surreal.
