Sirius Black had always been afraid of relationships. Growing up in a household with two equally psychotic, temperamental, and cold-hearted parents turned his expectations of love into nothing but a dreary future of arguing and unhappiness, which was why when he started to fall for Chloé Laurent, he had been terrified.

However, it was nothing like his parents had modelled a relationship to be. With Chloé it was fun, and full of laughter and happiness and after two weeks of sneaking around and snogging in broom closets Sirius was determined to do something nice for her.

A Hogsmeade weekend was looming and Sirius was hoping to take Chloé on a proper date, which made him ridiculously nervous.

The only good news was that Remus had agreed to cover for his absence to the Marauders and keep them away from everywhere Sirius planned to take Chloé so that their relationship wouldn't get out just yet.

"Pads, it's detention. Why the hell are you being so fussy with the clothes?" asked James as he watched his best friend try on his fifth outfit of the morning.

Sirius rolled his eyes "Yes but it's detention with Raina in sixth year so the better I dress, the more likely she is to wind up in a broom cupboard with me" he lied.

"What about Chloé?" asked Peter "I thought you were still head over heels in love with her"

He scoffed "Seeing as Chloé has zero interest in me, I'm expanding my options"

Pettigrew frowned. "Still. Seems a little bit mean to her"

Sirius shrugged "Doesn't matter. I'll see you guys tonight okay? Once I'm done organising Minnie's shelves"

He was followed by some snide comments from the other boys as he left their dormitory and made his way out of Gryffindor tower. Had he really been going to detention Sirius would have made a right to climb further up the castle, but Sirius turned left and hurried down the marble stairs until he exited the castle. All of the other Hogsmeade goers made their way directly there by the North Exit, but Sirius headed to the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

November had come and the weather had sharply turned colder, blessing Hogwarts with not rain, but snow. It only fell thinly but was enough to cover the surfaces of all the grass, trees, and the castle with snow and as Sirius traipsed down to the Forest light snow fell around the grounds.

It turned out Chloé was already waiting for him there and Sirius stopped, taking in the breathtaking image of her standing among the snowflakes, some of which had landed in her hair. Her skin had paled as winter approached and she looked beautiful in the cold.

"Hi" he said breathlessly.

"Hey" she beamed back "Why are we meeting here?"

He grinned, "I thought we could go to Hogsmeade together"

Chloé laughed, "Are you asking me on a date, Sirius?"

Sirius smiled nervously and ruffled his dark curls "I am. That is, if you want to go? If- if you don't th- that's fine and I-I get it bu-"

"Sirius" she giggled, placing her hand on his cheek, which was already cold from the weather. "Of course I want to go on a date with you."

He beamed, far wider and happier than he would have liked to show but it was too late to hide his excitement now.

"Good" he replied "Then, um, let's go"

Sirius offered her his arm and Chloé beamed and slipped her hand through to rest it on his bicep.

They began to walk through the snow towards Hogsmeade while Sirius continuously swivelled his head to check if anyone had seen them together but to his luck it appeared none of their friends had left the castle yet so they reached the village without being noticed.
