November - Winter
I lied awake on my bed, looking up at the ceiling and trying to make up a good idea.

"Maybe try laying upside down, get the blood rushing to your brain?" Liam chuckled at me.
"Wait, really?" I sat up and smiled.
"No, dumbass." he rolled his eyes, as he put on a shirt. "I don't think any idea of yours will ever make Lia go to prom with you." I frowned at his words.

Lia. Oh, Lia. Lia Kim has been my crush for about two years. Ever since my smartass sister introduced me to her, I've been trying to find a way to ask her out. Two years. Liam says I'm pussy-whipped, but I prefer the term in-love.

And plus, I'll never know 'till I try. After all, my sister's her best friend, I can always get some info from her, right?

"She's one of those let's-kill-the-patriarchy girls. Not that I see anything wrong with that, but she'll probably see any gesture you throw at 'er as 'traditional' and 'misogynistic'." he hummed as he typed on his phone, eyebrows furrowing in concentration.
I winced at the white light that emerged from it, glinting his eyes as he read something.

"Oohhh, are you texting Inaya?" I mocked in a sing-songy voice.
"Shut up." he rolled his eyes.

Liam and Inaya started dating like last year and been inseparable ever since. Inaya was also part of the group anyway, and Liam liked for ages so if it worked out for them, why not for Lia and I?

"What'd you think about that new guy? Keith?" Liam asked, changing the subject.
"Seems cool." I shrugged.
"Seems like he was eyeing your sister." he snickered.

"No. Ew! Gross. Don't even... ugh..." I shook my head.
"The thought of someone liking her like that makes me wanna throw up." I fake-gagged, but in all honesty, it might've been a tiny bit real.
"Are you saying someone thinking you're attractive makes you nauseous too?"

"Huh?" I scratched my head.
"Jesus. You two look identical, Pedro." Liam rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, right. Whatever." I muttered.
"I'm going to bed. Night." I yawned and turned off the lamp on my bedside table.
Liam climbed onto the top bunk before returning the gesture and then snoring the whole fucking night.

...

"Mhm, got it." I nodded, uninterested as Nicki rambled about some fashion thingy program.
"Sooo, when's Lia coming?" I asked, trying to sound casual. Nicki smirked.
"Oh, you mean the love-of-your-life Lia? The one you've been completely whipped for the last two years?" she snickered as she readjusted her sunglasses that were perched on her head.

"Not two years. Not yet, at least." I glared at her.
"Aw, you keep count!" she cooed, like I was some kind of puppy.
"Shut up." I muttered as I rolled my eyes.

"I could always talk about you to Lia, y'know... to help!" she hummed, rubbing her palms together deviously.
"Keep it down!" I whisper-shouted.
"You make it obvious enough." Nicki rolled her eyes, still typing on her laptop.

"What do you want?" I asked.
Nicki always wanted something.

"Hypothetically, if I did help you... what's in it for me?" she grinned as she narrowed her eyes.
"I don't know!" I shrieked.
She shut her laptop and turned her head towards me.
"Hmm... okay, so I'm kinda failing English and I guess that's like your strong suit, sooo..." she scratched the back of her neck.
"You want me to tutor you?" I raised an eyebrow.

"I was thinking more like you did my tests for me, but that sounds less risky..." Nicki nodded.
"So, if I help you with English you'll talk me up and help me get with Lia?" I smiled excitedly.
She nodded.
"Though she won't get with you if you look like that." she shook her head at me.

"Are you calling me ugly?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
"No, mini-Perez, I'm saying your clothes are... eh." she said, gesturing to my hoodie.

"Eh?" I asked.
I thought my Star Wars hoodie was pretty cool.
"Lia likes edgy, different guys. Y'know, like hippie?" Nicki explained, as she reopened her laptop and searched something. I peeked over.

"See?" she pointed to the screen. It showed about a thousand pictures of 'hippie, cool, edgy guys', at least that's what she searched.
"Hmm... Gotcha." I nodded. "So, all I gotta do is wear that kinda shit?"
"Yep." she replied. "But that's not all there is to it. You'll have to commit."

"Commit?" I rolled my eyes. "Seriously?"
"You're lucky the person who you're conspiring with is a fashion student and knows everything about this 'kinda shit'." she smirked.

"So, deal?" she held out her hand.
I thought about it. Changing myself completely just for a girl to like me? Well... sounds good!
"Deal." I shook her hand.
