Ken couldn't resist trying his luck at the ring toss.
"Watch and learn," he said confidently, tossing a ring that barely missed its target.
Amari laughed. "Nice try, Sato. Let me show you how it's done." She took a ring and, with a precise flick of her wrist, landed it perfectly around the bottle neck.
Ken stared in disbelief. "Beginner's luck."
"Or maybe I'm just that good," Amari winked.
""Oh my gosh! That's such a cute plushie! Dad, can we get it?!" A child's excited cheers stole their attention.
Amari and Ken turned to see the plushie in question, a large Ultraman teddy, hanging enticingly at the stall. They exchanged a glance, both knowing they had to have it.
Up came the child's dad, a determined look on his face as he stepped up to the table. The attendant handed Amari a smaller plushie, and she raised her brow with a weak chuckle. "Ah, what's this?"
"300 points for the big one," the attendant explained, gesturing to the giant Ultraman plushie.
Amari met the dad's gaze, and they shared a knowing look. It was clear they were both eyeing the same prize.
She patted Ken's shoulder with a playful grin. "No pressure, right, Kenji?"
"Nah, we got this," Ken replied confidently, and they exchanged a quick handshake, mentally preparing for the friendly competition ahead.
"Alright, let's toss," said the dad, a competitive edge in his voice.
The game was on. Rings flew through the air, some landing close but not quite on target. Cheers erupted from the crowd as each successful toss brought them closer to victory.
In the end, after a close and exciting match, Ken and Amari emerged victorious. They claimed the coveted Ultraman plushie, smiling triumphantly as they held it up.
The dad walked over, laughing good-naturedly. "Well played, you two. It was a fun challenge."
"Likewise," Ken replied, shaking hands with the dad. "It was a blast."
Amari nodded, still grinning. "Definitely worth the effort." She watches as the attendant retrieves the prize.
"Common Kiddo" the dad began to usher his dejected son away.
"Hey, I know this is a long shot, but would you two be interested in front-row seats to the next baseball game? I've got some connections." Ken spoke up, not liking the look on kid's face.
The dad and his son exchanged surprised glances, then looked back at the dad with gratitude. "That would be amazing," The dad said sincerely.
"You can do that really?," The kid asked in wonder. In cue Amari turns to see the commotion.
With a friendly nod, the Ken handed them a card with the details. "Enjoy the game. You've earned it." with a firm hand shake from the dad and an akward head pat to the son." Consider it a thank you for the fun game"
The boy's eyes sparkle before he hugs Ken's leg "Thanks Mister" the sudden show of affection catches Ken off guard but warms his heart.
"Yeah, no problem"
"Hey, haven't I seen you from somewhere?" Asked the dad.
"Okay, I'm sorry for we should be off now" Amari interjected, not wanting Ken's disguise to be revealed.
They wave goodbye to the pair. Amari soon turning to Ken with a smile. "You softie" She teases.
Ken chuckled, his expression sheepish yet proud. "Can't help it when it comes to making kids smile," he admitted, nudging Amari playfully with his shoulder.
Amari laughed softly, her eyes twinkling with affection. "It's one of the things I love about you," she confessed, squeezing his hand gently as they walked. "You've got a big heart, Kenji."
Ken turns to her, surpise colors his expression "You love me?"
Amari smiled warmly at Ken's surprised expression, her gaze steady and filled with sincerity. She stopped walking, turning to face him fully, her hand still gently holding his.
"Yes, Kenji," she affirmed softly, her voice carrying a depth of emotion. "I love you."
Ken's eyes widened slightly, a mixture of happiness and disbelief flickering across his features. He had hoped to hear those words from her, but hearing them now felt surreal and incredibly heartwarming. He took a moment to compose himself, holding her gaze with a mixture of tenderness and adoration
"I love you too, Amari," Ken finally said, his voice filled with conviction. He pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her in a warm embrace. "More than I can express."
The clearing of a throat from the attendant interrupted their intimate moment, causing both Ken and Amari to pull away slightly. They exchanged a brief glance before turning their attention to the attendant, who was holding out the Ultraman plushie.
"Your prize," the attendant said with a polite smile, handing the plushie to Amari.
"Thank you," Amari replied graciously, accepting the plushie with a grateful nod. The plushie being larger than her, completely shadowing her.
"Yeah... Thank you," Ken whispered softly, his voice filled with gratitude for whoever orchestrated the moment that placed Amari by his side
As the sun began to set, they decided to take a stroll through the park’s beautifully lit pathways. The lights twinkled around them, creating a magical atmosphere.
“I’m really glad we did this,” Ken said, his voice softer now. “It’s nice to have some time just for us.”
“Me too,” Amari agreed, leaning into him. “Today’s been perfect.”
They ended their day with a ride on the carousel, its nostalgic charm adding a sweet ending to their adventure. As they rode side by side, the gentle music and the warm lights made everything feel almost surreal.
“Promise we’ll do this again?” Amari asked, her eyes reflecting the carousel’s glow.
“Promise,” Ken replied, leaning in to kiss her cheek. “Anytime, anywhere, as long as it’s with you.”
