I quickly went outside my room and downstairs. I snatched Kuma up when I saw him chilling in the kitchen. He squeaked with my sudden action, so my hand quickly pets his head.
"Sorry buddy."
When I already made up my mind to fix my friendship with Jennie again, I remembered how Jennie softened about Kuma. Kaya naman hindi na ako nagdalawang isip na gamitin ito sa plano.
I just need a reason so Jennie will talk to me. I squat down and open our back door slightly. Iniharap ko si Kuma sa akin at tinitigan sa mata.
"Okay. I need you to do something for me buddy. You just have to make papansin to the pretty lady from the house next door. Galingan mo ha?" Bilin ko sa aso ko bago siya pakawalan. But Kuma just stood there where I dropped him.
My forehead knitted. I nudged him.
"Go and run." Panatag naman ako na hindi siya makakarating sa daan dahil may fences.
But all Kuma did was just sit and stare up at me. I groaned. Kung kailan naman may go signal na akong magtatatakbo siya sa labas tsaka siya hindi gagalaw? Samantalang kapag nawala siya sa tali niya ay kulang na lang mag hide and seek kami bago ko siya mahuli.
"Come on buddy. I really need your help here." He tilts his head like he's processing my words.
"I just need you to make way so I can talk to her. Don't you want that? Don't you miss your mommy?" The word mommy perked his ears up. He barked in response and I beamed.
"Yes yes! Go to your mommy. And make sure to bring her here with you, alright?" Kuma's little legs move as he dashes outside. Napasuntok ako sa ere.
Sumilip ako sa maliit na siwang ng pinto kung saan ko pinadaan si Kuma. Sinadya ko ring bunutin ang tanim ni mama sa may gilid ng bakod para may daanan si Kuma papunta kina Jennie. I just hope magkabati na kami ni Jennie bago pa madiscover ni mama ang ginawa ko sa halaman niya.
I didn't hear any noises kaya napakunot ako ng noo. Maybe Kuma still hasn't found the hole yet. Nang sumilip ako ay napaatras ako sa gulat nang muntik na akong makita ni Jennie.
She's already walking towards our house. Shit!
I scurried away from the door and looked around panicking.
"Hello?" Nang marinig ko ang pagtawag niya, nakahinga ako ng maluwag. Ah ofcourse hindi naman papasok nang walang pahintulot si Jennie. Dati 'yun at hindi na ngayon.
Hindi ako sumagot at mabilis na pumwesto sa couch namin. Nahiga ako at ibinaba ang headphones sa tainga ko at nagscroll sa cellphone ko, waiting for Jennie to come inside.
If she'll see the back door open, doon siya pupunta. Well, hopefully.
Moments later, I heard a creak. My heart rate went crazy. She's here.
"Hello? Anybody home?" She called out pero di muna ako kumibo.
"Okay baby you're home na. I'll drop you na, ha? Be a good boy and don't run off."
Napabalikwas ako kaagad ng upo ng marinig ang sinabi niya. Jennie jumped at my sudden action. Her eyes widened in shock.
"Uhm hey." I akwardly say bago tumayo.
"Hi. uh.. I saw your dog roaming outside our house. I was calling outside pero walang sumasagot. Sorry for barging inside uninvited." Mabilis akong umiling.
"No it's okay. Sorry. Nakawala na naman siguro si Kuma. He's getting expert in that." Biro ko habang naglalakad palapit sakanya. May sumilay na ngiti sa labi ni Jennie, making my heart beats more wild.
