“A single glance ignited a slow burn.”

I quickly ran to Holly's room, grabbing her school backpack and pour out its contents then filled it with her clothes and stuffs. I'm such a mess, bruised face and ripped shirt. How dare he! How dare he sold them!

The door made a creaking sound and I turned around with a nervous heart, only to see a newly awaken 6 year old kid, rubbing her eyes and looking at me cluelessly. Poor little fragile soul, she was left alone in this room not knowing what happened just outside this room. I pulled her into a deep hug, sobbing quietly, not wanting to let her know the toughest sister she knew is at state of losing her mind.

"Where are you heading today, Sissy?" Quickly wiping off my tears, and facing my sister with a smile. "You're bleeding..."

"No. No. It's nothing, Sissy. Today, you are coming with me, doesn't that sound so fun?" She excitedly nods at me and I chuckled softly. "We better hurry, it's going to be late soon."

"I'll go get ready!" She raises her hand, like a good student and immediately runs to the bathroom. I started packing my stuff also after hers, changed my clothes, and covered up the bruises. Holly and I sets off before that "MONSTER" comes back home, I honestly don't know where to head but I guess, I gotta trust my bike and lead me to where it stops.

After 4 hours of driving, my sister started to ask for food, it panicked me a bit because I'm no longer sure where I'm headed because it has become dark, but this place suddenly slip through my mind.

I hope it's still open.

It started to rain, the sky was gloomy and I was about to flip the sign to close when a familiar face knocked on the door, soaked from the rain and carrying a kid in her arms tightly. Immediately opening the door and taking her bags from her hand, she lets the kid sit on the table- closing the door behind her. She then faced me while trying to wipe her wet face, only then I noticed the faint marks of bruises. "Did something happened?"

She flinched, unable to look up at me. "I'm sorry to come here at this late of time but... my sister... is hungry, is it okay if she could grab a bite? She'll be quick and leave after."

Is she not gonna eat?

"Follow me." I said after locking the door and flipping the open sign to close. I led them to the kitchen and prepared a seat for them, as they settled, I noticed the young girl pale and wet. "Your sister looks pale, I'll bring her some blanket."

As I head back to the kitchen, I noticed that she fell asleep with her sister in her arms wrapped in a jacket. I approached them slowly and placed the blanket gently around her, only to flinch in surprise."I'm sorry, I woke you up, I brought you some blankets."

"Thank you, you are doing so much already. I don't have proper money to pay you right now though, I may have left my wallet... Somewhere." She trails off while wrapping the blanket instead to her sister.

"I'll make you some dinner, so get some rest." I walk backwards slowly, trying to escape to this awkward situation, or maybe not.

"No, it's fine. Can I help you with anything?" She places her sister on the table, still sleeping soundingly. Standing up from her seat and signaling me to go first, defeatedly showing her the way to my kitchen.

"Don't mind the mess, I'm still about to clean." I excused from the not-so piled dishes, dirty equipment on the counter and batter covered kitchen tools. Taking the seat from under the counter and put it behind her quietly and start washing my hands. "Just sit down for now."
