Silence had entered Jimin's mind long ago. He had no idea what day it was or how long he had been sleeping. But now he was waking and as his head started throbbing, he wished he was still in a state of deep sleep.
Softly moaning, he tried to open his eyes. His hand reached up to touch his forehead. "What happened?"
His voice was raw and he swallowed hard as he tried to make a clear picture out of his blurred vision.
Someone was standing next to him... Dressed in a white coat. "You were in a car accident, Jimin," they said. It was a male voice, dark and warm sounding.
He blinked. "What?"
"A car accident," the voice repeated. "Your car hit the safety barrier on the freeway. You're in Seoul General Hospital now. I am Cheon In-Ho, your doctor. Do you remember anything of what happened?"
Jimin closed his eyes and shook his head again. "No... although..." His voice trailed off. He did remember something... Someone... "I do remember... eyes..."
"Eyes?" doctor Cheon asked.
He nodded. "Yes. I don't know who they were. But I remember their eyes, very clearly. They were bright blue." He groaned softly. "Ugh, this headache."
"Can you open your eyes? I'd like to have a look."
He did as the doctor asked and was caught off guard as a flash of light shone in them. He looked away. "Whoa. That hurts."
"Well," the doctor said, "you have been here for two days, unconscious. You've been on the edge, Jimin. You were very lucky."
Jimin opened his eyes, relieved to find that his blurry vision seemed to have improved a bit. As he looked up at the man next to his hospital bed, his heart skipped a beat.
"Oh hello."
Doctor Cheon smiled back.
He couldn't be much older than him. With his dark hair cut short, an oval shaped face and beautiful brown eyes he looked at Jimin with interest. The sight made him feel a bit woozy.
"So, are you experiencing any dizziness, heart racing, feeling faint?"
Jimin questioned the second experience the doctor summoned - his heart was indeed racing at the moment, but not because of what had happened that brought him here in the hospital- but then shook his head.
"I am feeling pretty alright," he said as he tried to get up.
A sharp pain shot in his side, forcing him to close his eyes and clench his teeth. "Umpf." He swallowed the swear words that sprung to mind. "What the hell happened to me?"
"Five of your ribs are broken," doctor Cheon told him. "You should not be trying to get up just yet. I will let a nurse come to put an elastic bandage around your waist, so that you can move a little better." He smiled, making Jimin's heart race. "I say, you are still lucky that those five ribs are all that were broken in your body," he pointed out. "From what I heard, you didn't wear your seatbelt. Which means you're lucky to be alive after being shot out of your car like that."
Jimin cocked an eyebrow. Was it normal for a doctor to be giving out lectures like this? "What about my pounding head?" he asked.
"Yes, a concussion. But a mild one."
He closed his eyes. The beating continued behind his eyelids.
"I will leave you now. Try to get some sleep. Within a few hours your parents are likely to show up." A smile was noticeable in his voice as he said that. "They've been here every day since you got here."
