As winter settled in, the campus was transformed into a winter wonderland. The trees were adorned with twinkling lights, and students bustled around in warm coats and scarves. The holiday spirit was infectious, and Grace found herself looking forward to the various festivities planned by the university.
One afternoon, as Grace and Yeonjun were packing up after another productive study session, Yeonjun suggested, "Hey, there's a winter festival happening on campus this weekend. Want to go check it out?"
Grace's eyes lit up at the idea. "That sounds fun! I'd love to."
"Great," Yeonjun said with a smile. "We can go with the others. I know Soobin, Taehyun, Beomgyu, and Kai are planning to go too."
Grace nodded, excited at the prospect of spending more time with Yeonjun and his friends. "I'll ask Chaei if she wants to join us."
That Saturday, Grace and Chaei met up with Yeonjun and the rest of the group at the entrance to the festival. The air was filled with laughter and the delicious aroma of food from various stalls. The festive atmosphere was contagious, and everyone seemed to be in high spirits.
"Soobin, Taehyun, Beomgyu, and Kai were already there, joking around and trying to win prizes at the game booths. Chaei's eyes lit up when she saw Soobin, and Grace couldn't help but smile at the sight of her friend's excitement.
"Hey, guys!" Yeonjun called out, waving as they approached. "Ready for some fun?"
The group spent the afternoon exploring the festival, trying different foods, and participating in various activities. At one point, they found themselves at an ice-skating rink set up in the middle of the festival grounds.
"Let's go skating!" Kai suggested, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
Grace hesitated, feeling a bit nervous. "I've never been ice-skating before..."
Yeonjun stepped closer, offering his hand. "Don't worry, Grace. I'll help you."
She looked at his outstretched hand and took a deep breath before placing her hand in his. The warmth of his touch reassured her, and she felt a surge of confidence as they made their way to the rink.
The first few moments on the ice were wobbly and uncertain, but Yeonjun was patient, guiding Grace with gentle encouragement. As they skated, their hands remained clasped, and Grace felt a mixture of exhilaration and nervousness.
"You're doing great, Grace," Yeonjun said, his voice warm and encouraging. "Just keep your balance and trust yourself."
Grace focused on his words and gradually found her rhythm. The initial fear gave way to enjoyment, and she couldn't help but laugh as they glided across the ice.
At one point, Grace stumbled slightly, and Yeonjun quickly steadied her, his arms wrapping around her waist to keep her from falling. The close contact made her heart race, but she was grateful for his support.
"Gotcha," Yeonjun said with a grin, his face close to hers.
Grace blushed, her cheeks feeling warm despite the cold. "Thanks, Yeonjun."
They continued skating, and as Grace became more confident, she let go of Yeonjun's hand, though they stayed close to each other. Meanwhile, Chaei and Soobin skated together, their laughter echoing across the rink. It was clear that there was a spark between them, and Grace felt happy for her friend.
After a while, they decided to take a break and grabbed hot cocoa from a nearby stall. They sat around a fire pit, warming their hands and enjoying the festive atmosphere.
"So, Grace," Beomgyu said with a teasing grin, "how was your first time ice-skating?"
Grace laughed, feeling more at ease. "It was fun! Thanks to Yeonjun, I didn't fall too many times."
Yeonjun shrugged modestly. "You did great, Grace."
As the evening wore on, they explored more of the festival, enjoying the various attractions and each other's company. Grace felt a sense of belonging with the group, and she appreciated how Yeonjun and his friends had welcomed her and Chaei into their circle.
Later, as they were walking towards the exit, the sky lit up with a spectacular display of fireworks. The vibrant colors illuminated the night, and everyone paused to watch in awe. Grace stood next to Yeonjun, their shoulders brushing as they looked up at the sky.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" Yeonjun said softly.
Grace nodded, her eyes reflecting the colorful bursts. "Yeah, it really is."
In that moment, with the fireworks painting the sky and the warmth of Yeonjun's presence beside her, Grace felt a deep sense of happiness and contentment. She knew that their friendship was special, and she cherished every moment they spent together.
As the fireworks show came to an end, the group made their way back to campus, chatting and laughing about the day's events. When they reached Grace's dorm, she turned to Yeonjun with a smile.
"Thanks for today, Yeonjun. I had a great time."
He smiled back, his eyes warm. "Me too, Grace. Let's do it again sometime."
She nodded, feeling a sense of anticipation for the future. As she watched him walk away, she couldn't help but feel grateful for the growing bond they shared.
