Love is a beautiful thing, isn't it?
I always thought you were the one, but unfortunately I only lied not only to myself, but to you as well
The sacrifices you've made will forever be cherished in my heart
I know it's frustrating, and I know how bad I screwed up
I didn't want to keep lying or leading you on into a fantasy that wasn't going to become a reality
I couldn't value your worth, and that's on me
Don't dwell on this shattered relationship anymore
We've parted ways, and it has to remain that way
Maybe your luck will come next time
It is only a desire, a dream, right?
Goodbye, Jennie Kim.

Jennie stared at the letter. She showed no emotion. It was the same old story repeating itself once more. Slowly, she ripped the letter into pieces in disgust, anger, pain and heartbreak. Another love loss added to her list. How many more pills like these did she have to swallow?

A faint sigh could be heard just a few feet away from her. Jennie turned her gaze over to the couch, where her best friend Soojin laid, reading a book.

"Let me guess, another letter?"

Jennie her lip harshly. The answer to Soojin's question was clear as day. Even her own friend had gotten used to this repeated story of her own constant heartbreaks. She couldn't even bring herself to speak.

Soojin looked up from her book and sighed. She gently closed the book and set it aside, sitting up straight.

"You have more exes than all my mom's divorces combined, and that's a shocker." Soojin said, staring at Jennie in the eyes, which she received an eye roll in response.

"I'm not a lust hungry woman like your mother, Soojin." Jennie replied, giving Soojin an annoyed glance and sitting down on the couch next to her.

Soojin raised an eyebrow, chuckling. "Never said you were. But you've become desperate for a romantic relationship instead of allowing yourself to catch a break. You don't wanna face reality, and you know I don't lie. I told you Kangmin was a scum, didn't I?"

"Is that supposed to make me feel better?" Jennie asked, sarcasm evident in her tone and expression. She just wanted to drop the subject entirely, but Soojin wasn't having any of it.

"I care about you, Jennie. You might think I'm trying to be a pain, but I'm not. You need a reality check, but I don't know how to help you if you keep avoiding the subject and doing the same thing over and over again. You're a great person, but you're hurting yourself in the process all because you're desperate for love."

Jennie sighed in frustration, rubbing her temples. Her emotions spun around in her head like a tornado. She felt her head pounding from the aching headache that began to form. She didn't want to keep talking about any of this. She was stuck in her own world to even consider the reality of her situation.

"Soojin...just drop it. I don't want to keep talking about this right now. Please." Jennie said, standing up from the couch and walking to the front door, grabbing her purse from the coat rack and walking out without another word. Soojin groaned, shaking her head and muttering under her breath in frustration mixed with a hint of sympathy.

"She's gonna keep crushing her own heart till the day she snaps. By then, she might not be able to recover from everything she's put herself through..."

Jennie walked through the streets, tuning out the sounds of the constant honking of the horns, the screeching tires on the road, the chatter of the people passing by, and the light of the blinding sun above. Her thoughts ran in a constant loop, almost like a record player in her head that she couldn't turn off.
