I am Leonardo Kottamizu! I am a close friend of the Kamados as we all live on the same mountain. I live alone with only my grandfather as my parents died in a bear attack when I was very young and my grandfather has been raising me ever since. My parents were big fans of art so even though I am still Japanese my name is Leonardo like the artist. And my life is pretty perfect! Or so I thought... Things changed one night... One terrible night...

Me: Work work work!

I chant rhythmically as me and my best friend Tanjiro chop some wood. If you are confused we are cutting firewood for a campfire his mom, Kie, planned today. People say me and Tanjiro act way too old for our age as we are only 11 and yet we do nearly everything... But that's because we have to. I lost my parents when I was young Tanjiro lost his dad not too long ago so we kinda try to act like parental figures to his siblings. Providing and a lot of other things. After what feels like forever we finish cutting the wood and we bring it to Kie and Tanjiro begins making the campfire and I try to help Kie with the rice balls. Another few hours probably go by and we look at our work and nod proudly

Tanjiro: Alright!

Kie: Very good work boys.

She reaches out and gently pats our heads and calls out

Kie: Alright everyone the fire is ready!

The sound of giggles and the pattering of feet urupts from inside as 5 others imerge from the house Hanako the youngest female of the Kamado family runs up to me and hugs me

Hanako: Leo!

Me: Hello little Hanako!

Hanako: Little!? We are only 3 years apart mister!

Me: Mister?

... We all begin laughing at the irony of Hanako's statement and she pouts as everyone begins to dig into the rice balls and I sit next to Nezuko who is holding a sleeping Rokuta the youngest Kamado boy at just 2 years old. Yeah. Two. Their dad's death is still fresh in all of their mind. Tanjuro... An amazingly kind man. But he was sick... So very sick... He used to dance the nights away with such vigor that you wouldn't even know he was on death's door! Everyone was so... Different back then... The Kamado household has always been full of warmth but the shadows of grief have dimmed that light...

Nezuko: Lee?

Nezuko's sweet and kind voice pulls my from my thoughts and I turn my head towards her

Me: Oh yeah?

Nezuko: You were staring off into space

Me: Ah... Just thinking about my mom and dad

Nezuko: I see... How did you move on?

I look at her and a fresh tear runs down her face...Understandable it was only a little longer than a year ago when their father died...

Me: I don't know how much this will help but... I was basically a baby. I don't remember my parents too well. But I still feel the void... I wouldn't say I have moved on

Nezuko: I see...

She rests her head on my shoulder with a quiet hum. Nezuko... She is my very best friend I dare say we are closer than her and Tanjiro and me and Tanjiro combined. And... I love her I have since the day we met but I haven't acted on it... But I am trying... Tomorrow I set a little... Challenge for myself. To confess to Nezuko how I feel! But enough about that right now... It's getting late...

Me: I should get going grandfather doesn't like it when I am out of the house when the sun goes down

Hanako: You haven't had any rice balls yet!
