Chapter 34

I let out a deep sigh as I began reading a book I found in Nolan's study. Mabuti nalang ay natapos na ang drama kanina.

Kanina pa ako nag-iisip kung paano ko sasabihin sakanila tungkol sa DNA test result na nakuha ko mula kay Andrea. Mabuti nalang at si Natalia na mismo ang gumawa ng paraan para mapadali ang problema ko.

Naalala ko nung ibinigay ko sa stepmom ni Nolan ang flashdrive na ibinigay saakin ni Nolan. Nagulat nalang ako dahil sa labas ng silid siya at tila may nag-aabang.

"Mom?"

Lumingon ito saakin at binigyan ako ng munting ngiti.

"I want to talk to you."

Dinala ako ng stepmom ni Nolan sa balcony. Hindi nagtagal ay may mga maid na dinalhan kami ng tasa.

"I'm here to investigate what happened earlier. Natalia is behaving strangely. I always saw her as a gentle and kind woman. Today, she seemed like a completely different person," she started, taking a sip of her tea.

"I wanted to hear your perspective, Cecilia," she said, gazing at me.

"I know you're no ordinary woman," she added.

I smiled as I handed her the flash drive that Nolan had given me, which held the evidence showing that Natalia had instructed Gideon's nanny to food poison Gideon.

"It's the evidence that reveals the true mastermind behind it all," I explained.

Lumipas ang ilang araw ay tinawagan na din ako ni Andrea at sinabing tapos na niya yung pinapagawa ko.

At sa sandaling pag-uwi ko, doon na ginawa ni Natalia ang ka-drama-han niya, ang show niya kung saan siya ang clown.

Nagdaan na ang mapayapang pamumuhay namin dito sa mansyon. It's wonderful to see everyone getting along so well, living harmoniously with each other.

But one night, I couldn't sit still because it was already 10 p.m. and Nolan still hadn't come home. He usually arrives home by 8 p.m. I tried calling him, but he didn't answer.

"Ate Cil!"

Nag-aalalang lumapit saakin si Lucy. Kumunot ang noo ko dahil hindi siya mapakali.

"Tinawagan ako ng kaibigan ko na nagtatrabaho sa kompanya ni Kuya. Sinabi niya na may nangyari daw kay Kuya pero hindi siya nagpapapasok sa opisina niya!"

Hindi na ako nag-aksayang ng oras dahil nagmadali akong pumunta sa kompanya ni Nolan dito sa Amethystia. Nadatnan ko ang ilang empleyado sa 15th floor.

"What's happening?" Tanong ko paglapit ko kay Merlin.

"Madam, we are not sure. It's best for you to go in and see for yourself," Merlin suggested. Nagbigay saakin ng daan papasok sa pintuan.

My heart pounded as I turned the doorknob and entered. The room was dark, leaving me puzzled.

Bakit ang dilim at tahimik?

As I took slow steps forward, each step echoing softly, the warm lights gradually flickered on one by one, creating a pathway of light on the floor. 

Kumunot ang noo ko. Anong meron? Why did it felt like walking down an aisle towards something magical?

As I continued to move ahead, I could hear the strong thump of my heart. As I made my way through the room, my gaze fell upon a painting hanging on the wall. With each flicker of light, the painting gradually revealed itself.

In it, I saw a depiction of myself wearing my school uniform, a look of boredom and frustration evident on my face. The subtle details captured the essence of a moment where I was clearly displeased.
