"Where is he? Where is he?"
A little girl runs up to the door, looking for a man she has been excited to meet her whole life. She asks up to her older brother, who as well is as much as excited as her.
"Just wait a bit more! He might be here any moment now!! I'm telling you, Uncle Haru is the coolest person you'll ever meet!!"
Uncle Haru. It has been someone she has been longing to meet all her life. She doesn't really know who he is but he's someone special. She remembers how he used to them everyday and used to talk to her. She has heard a lot about him from her older brother which has sparked a interest in her. And that day is finally here.
"Tae, Suju, come here. It's lunch time!"
Both of them- Soojin and Taehyung- rush to their mom to have lunch. They are in a hurry to have it. Both are too excited to meet Haru. Taehyung last met him when he was 4 years old and his sister was born then. Now he's 8.
Their mom cooked Soojin's favorite food and she's overjoyed to have it. But something seems off today. Why is grandma crying? Why does her mom and dad have tear-filled eyes? Why is the neighborhood kid, Yoongi, not as Jolly as he used to be? She doesn't know.
Before she could finish it, there is a ring of the doorbell. Taehyung and Soojin look at each other shocked and get up without even finishing their food.
"UNCLE HARUU!!!" Taehyung yells and runs to him. Haru picks him up in his arms and makes him giggle. "Oh Tae!!! You've grown up so much!!"
Soojin runs after him and notices a man- tall and thin, with fair complexion, a sharp jawline, bright doe eyes and glasses as accessories. Yes, he DOES looks like someone right out of a movie. And for some reason, she finds a weird similarity of his face with hers. His gaze turns towards her and his expression changes. He puts Taehyung down and comes towards her slowly. He kneels down to her height and looks at her up and down. "You've grown so well... My love.. ", he smiles at her weakly.
"Hi.. Uncle Haru!" she greets him, bowing.
"U-uncle...?" Haru widens his eyes and looks at Soojin and Taehyung's parents. They just look down, not wanting to face him. Haru sighs and looks at Soojin again. "I've got something for you!" He searched his pocket and pulls out a pendant which he puts around her delicate neck. "There's something important in it. You get to open it on your 8th B-Day!" he says that and pecks her forehead. She squeals and giggles. Soon, she goes out with Taehyung and Yoongi to play. But she doesn't enjoy the game. Yoongi is behaving strange. "What's wrong with you, Oppa..?"
"No... I'm fine... I'm just not feeling good.. "
After returning home, Soojin is met with her parents crying while holding some bags in their hands. Haru takes those bags and comes towards her, "It's time to go, my baby...."
"Go... But where? I don't want to go anywhere! Where are you taking me?"
Her mom comes towards her and cups her cheeks, "You've to go Suju ah!! You've to! Haru is here to take you with him to Busan!!"
"WHAT?!!! she's not going anywhere, Mom!!! Where are you letting her go??" Taehyung looks shocked knowing the truth. "No... Uncle no!!! Don't take her!!! She... She's my sister!!! Please don't!!" He breaks down crying and screaming.
Haru wipes down his own tears as he takes Soojin in his arms and heads out.
That memory has become hazy for Soojin. It has been 5 years already. Little Soojin has turned 9 now. Living in the city of Busan had been quite boring than living in the countryside of Daegu. She had missed her brother, Taehyung and Yoongi so much but that feeling didn't last long when she started befriending the neighborhood kids. Haru found a small apartment, of two rooms. Since it was just both of them, they settled there.
In the next compartment, there lives a small family-The Jeons, consisting of Mr. Jeon, Mrs. Jeon and their two sons, Jeon Junghyun and Jeon Jungkook. The family is really kind and happy. They help Haru a lot to raise Soojin, since he also has to do part-time jobs to pay her expenses. So, most of the time, she lives with the Jeons. They love her a lot and treat her like their own child. When she was about six years old, she was given to the same school where the Jeon boys study-Baekyang Primary and Elementary school. The Jeon's older son, Junghyun, takes care of her as his own sister. Because of him, she doesn't feel the absence of Taehyung. He is almost of the same age as Taehyung.
It was not long when Soojin found out the real truth about Haru. She never expected it and it was hard for her to accept it that Haru is her REAL FATHER and this is the reason he took her with him because she wanted to take up his responsibility of being a father. Haru and his girlfriend, Nami were just 19 when she got pregnant. It was an accident. Nami died while giving birth to her. Well, it could be considered as a murder, she was beaten up to her death. This truth shattered her world and her jolly life. She used to be a cheerful kid, with always a bright smile but after the revelation of this truth, everything changed. She's all cold, doesn't talk to anybody, nor does she has any friends. She demanded him to know about her origin, about Haru's family, but he denied it and kept it a secret from her.
"They're rich and powerful people Suju... The further you're from them, the safer you're."
"Who killed mom?"
Haru just remained quiet.
"At least I deserve this truth!"
"Suju ahh... There's nothing you can do knowing this truth! She... She is gone already! What will you do knowing it? And... It's partially because of me!!"
"I'll kill them, dad!!! I'll HUNT THEM DOWN!!" She yells as tears flow down her cheeks. Haru put his arms around her but she pushed him away, "Don't... Don't come near me!!" and runs away.
She began hating her own father for this. And also herself. She blamed herself for her miserable life, for her mother's death and also the ruined future of her father. She felt hopeless. She felt as if life was a curse for her. Her father would come drunk most of the times but the good thing was, he never abused Soojin and always treated her like a princess. Still, she felt the guilt and loneliness eating her alive. She became quiet and emotionless. Her heart was filled with hatred for her own self and her father. She became stone-hearted. She wanted nothing but revenge for her mother's murder and also from those who abandoned her father in times of need.
VENGEANCE... SHE'S A SUCKER OF VENGEANCE
