"I'll go... I'll go with you!"
As those words leave her mouth, she gulps and looks down. How will he react now?
Jungkook does nothing. Literally nothing. As if the time has stopped and only Soojin is aware of it. He's frozen, not even blinking his eyes. Those Bambi eyes of his wide open, staring at her as if he doesn't have any idea who she is.
Soojin frowns, "Hey Kook--"
"What month is it?" he asks, his face blank.
"Huh?" Soojin asks dumbfoundedly. What's wrong with him? "uh... June. Why?"
"So.... It's not April?!!! It's not a joke?!!! You mean it?!!!" he shrieks out, jumping for a moment and staring at her, as if she's not a human, but something mystical "You.... You coming with me.... To... To Seoul?!! For real?!!"
His voice is loud, carrying a hint of hope and vulnerability in it. She was shocked at first by his sudden dramatic expression but then, she chuckled and nodded.
Jungkook's tense features started getting loose. He bit his lower lip, looked down and sniffled when in a flash moment, he pulled her in a tight hug, tighter that the usual hugs they would share. Hands wrapping tightly around her frame, he snuggled into the crook of her neck. Soojin is left baffled by his actions. Does it mean so much to him? She felt something wet on her neck. It took her a moment to realize that he's crying and his body is shaking.
She felt bad for him. She wrapped her arms around his back and tousled his hair, "Hey, don't cry, yeah? I'm going with you... What's up now?"
He mumbles, in his croaky voice, "Y-you're the best.... I-I love you!"
Soojin knows he just meant it in a simple way, in terms of best friends, but yet, it felt different. She just patted his back, comforting him, "Stop crying yeah? I'll talk with dad about it!" she says while cupping his puffy, bunny face and wiping those crystals off his face, "Good night.... It's late anyways"
With that she left the room, while Jungkook stared at her figure disappear.
I meant it. I love you.
You're someone to me.:::
Haru is seated on the edge of the bed, cradling his head into his hands. He heaves out a deep sigh and plops onto the bed.
How? How did this happen...? They probably must've seen me.... And most importantly, Suju. They must be aware now that I'm living here in Busan! And also that I have a daughter now!!
He sits up, ruffling his hair. He searches his pocket and takes out a pack of cigarettes. He pulls out one, lighting it with a lighter and taking puffs from it.
She's not safe here.... She's not safe with me. I need to send her away. They will come looking for her!
Just then, the door creaks open, revealing Soojin. Haru jolts up, throwing the cigarette butt out of the window as he gulps down water, almost chocking on it. He obviously wouldn't want his daughter to see him smoking.
"Ah Suju! You're back?" he smiled awkwardly.
"Yeah...," her voice trails away as she immediately notices the strange tension in her father, the same that she failed to notice a while ago. "Are you okay, dad...?" she frowns, clearly noticing the awkwardness, that he's trying his best to hide.
"Uh-yes yes! I'm alright, yeah? All fit and fine... Hehe... Perfect!" he smiled wide. The smile itself was enough to tell anyone that he's acting strange.
"You're not, stop lying," Soojin replies in a curt manner, catching Haru off guard. How do I even expect her to believe such silly lies? When she's clearly my daughter. Haru is at a loss of words when Soojin mumbles, "It's because of Chaeun aunt, isn't it...?"
