Author Notes (7/14/2024): First off, thank you so much for every comment, like/star, and add to your reading list. It truly does mean a lot to me. I enjoy reading the comments you leave. Some have me laughing so hard that I get the strangest looks. I'm okay with that!

Second, I think I'm at a point where I'm confident enough posting two chapters a week instead of one. My new goal is one chapter every Saturday and one chapter every Sunday.

Thank you everyone that has been patient waiting for weekly chapter updates as I work on finishing this story! I'm pretty far ahead in chapters and I do see a light at the end of the tunnel!

Always happy to hear ideas and answer what questions I can without giving story spoilers away! :) Thank you all for being wonderful! <3

Now, onto the show!

Vox laughs at me and shakes his head. "I thought we weren't going to talk about work." He quips, smirking at me.

I shrug. "I'm not trying to talk about work specifically, but I am interested in your new technology. I can't help it if my interest aligns with where I work." I explain, looking at him seductively. "There are a few things I'm interested in that happen to be at work." I reply, looking at him up and down. I'm doing my best to portray an interest in him so that I can get him to talk more about the drones.

Before he can respond to my comment the limo stops, indicating we must have made it to the restaurant. As we wait patiently for the driver to open the door, we finish our drinks and leave the empty glasses in the car. Vox helps me out of the car and politely leads me into the restaurant. Once we make it to the host, I can tell the demon is star struck by Vox.

"Mr. Vox! I saw your name on the list! I thought it might have been a joke." The host uncomfortably laughs. They grab two menus and begin leading us to a table with an incredible view of the city. Being in good with Vox does come with its perks. It's not long before our server comes by with a bottle of wine.

"Our finest, complimentary of course, Mr. Vox." The server says as they drop off the bottle, along with two glasses and bows. "I'll give you two sometime with the menus." They state before walking off.

"Wow, being an overlord sure does have its benefits, doesn't it?" It's a sincere question as I move my eyes from the server to Vox.

"It sure does." Vox says confidently as he pours both glasses. "I'd lie and say it's too much sometimes, but I wouldn't have it any other way." His honesty is somewhat refreshing.

Okay, this date actually isn't bad. If we both didn't have different ideas on how we wanted this date to end, it could actually be a good night. But unfortunately...

"You asked about the drones earlier." Vox starts, handing me a glass of wine. "How close up did you want to see one?" He asks.

I do my best to show as much excitement as I can. "I would do anything to get my hands on one!" I almost squeak out in an adorable tone as I take the glass.

"Anything?" Vox stretches out the word with a devilish grin. Shit! That's not exactly what I meant! I have to play this cool.

"What did you have in mind?" I question him. Taking a sip of wine. I need to be careful with the drinks at this point. I don't want to have too many.

"Be my permanent plaything." Vox states plainly. Now the honesty I appreciated just a second ago is getting annoying. "I want you at my beck and call. When I want you, how I want you." He explains, calmly drinking the wine that was given to us, waiting for my reply.

I mean, first off, no. But I have to find a way to get that drone.

"Well that seems like a steep price just to see one of the drones up close, don't you think?" I counter. I do my best to not outright deny his offer, I don't want him completely shut off from the idea of me seeing one of the drones. "I don't even know how exciting the drones are! I don't want you to enjoy an eternity of playtime for me to be disappointed by what the drones are unable to do." I challenge. I can tell that statement got to him a little.

"Hey now." Vox sounds a little hurt. "I can guarantee the drones are top notch. Anyone makes a move, I will see it." He explains. "But I can see your concern." He looks like he's in thought.

I laugh a little, putting my elbow on the table and resting my head in my hand. "Always such a businessman." I joke. "How about this? Show me the drone. That shouldn't be a problem if you're so sure that I'll be entertained by the flying contraption. If I am, I'll spend one night with you." I hold up one finger and shrug. "One night with a drone in exchange for one night of playtime. Seems fair, right?"

Vox's smile comes back. "I like you're thinking." He holds his hand out to me, which glows a light blue. "Want to make it a deal, then?" He asks.

"Oh, come on, Vox." I shake my head. "You can't just take my word for it? I want to play with one of the drones just as bad as you want to play with me. Trust me, I'm not going anywhere. No need for that." I motion to his glowing hand. I really don't want to make a deal with Vox.

"Besides..." I throw in, leaning in a little. "... others are becoming interested in your offer, you know." I whisper, my eyes motioning to the rest of the room.

Vox looks and sees that other tables are either watching our interaction or filming us. Once he makes eye contact with the other demons they go back to their normal business, acting like they weren't just being nosy. This frustrates Vox.

With his hand still glowing, he fists up his hand and a light blue electric charge splits into many directions. This causes the charge to travel the room. That trail of small lightning seems to have hit every cellphone in the room, frying every device.

"Good luck putting that on Sinstagram, fuckers." Vox mutters, but still loud enough for me to hear.

I don't want him to be in a bad mood. I need him to stay happy so I can see that stupid fucking drone and give it to Alastor. I giggle and put my hand over his, grabbing his attention again. "You're pretty damn sexy when you show your power." I try to bring his attention back towards me and boost his mood. This seems to work.

"Are you two ready to order?" The server asks as they walk back up to the table, tablet in hand ready to send our request to the kitchen.

"Oh, my Satan, that's right... food." I mutter as I look at the menu. "Um... the chicken alfredo looks good. I think I'll have that." I say as I hand my menu to the server.

"Yeah yeah, I'll have what she's having." Vox states hastily without looking at the server, handing them the menu. "I have a drone to show you. We have to get through dinner." Vox jokes, obviously confident and excited with how he thinks the night is going to turn out.

I feel like if we didn't have different motives we may actually get along. If he wasn't thinking with his pants and I wasn't on a side mission to steal one of his drones, this could actually be a good time. My next hurdle is trying to figure out how I'm going to get that drone, get away from him tonight, and still be in his good grace to continue this disguise. I guess in the worst-case scenario, I could always dump this disguise and try to start new. But what a pain.
