The Devil of the Rhine in a "safer" world (SOTTE x RTW)

Chapter 4

While Roland was teaching the marching song to his soldiers, Timothy and Garcia were fighting in the south, and Timothy got suprised when Garcia turned with people from the sand nation and a red pill that made them stronger, faster and without fear, and trapping some of Timothy's best knights in a fire of oil killing everyone who went inside the city, Timothy facing this massive failure decides to retreat 

A few days later 

Roland is sitting in his office

Roland's mind: This sudden attack from Longsong Stronghold must have been because they thought that after we survived the months of the demons... We would have no strenght left to resist! However, we are prepared! Although there isn't much gunpowder in storage, it should still be enough to repel the siege. And with the 203rd this should be a cake walk. Should I move into Longsong Stronghold after I win? Maybe not... it won't be as leisurely there as it is in Border Town. Regardless developing Border Town will require more manpower and resources. Which I can get from Longsong Stronghold! Gold royals, materials, craftsmen, labourers... I want it all! 

Then Roland hears something flying to his Window and soon Lightning crashes onto him 

Roland: Lightning? 

Lightning: Your highness, they are coming! 

Soon Duke Ryans army reaches the outskirts of Border Town and they prepare for a immediate attack and as soon as they see the defense of Border Town they charge, thinking it will be easy 

Meanwhile with Van'er 

Van'er which was by now used to fighting demonic beasts was now in shocked watching the knights charging down at them but he quickly calms himself down 

Artillery loader: Van'er, against all of the knights from Longsong Stronghold, do you think we can win? 

Van'er: Of course! Of course we can win! We've won against the demonic beasts, how can we not win against them? 

Loader: Back then there were few demonic beasts... Look at their troops, you can't even see the horizon! 

Van'er: We have his higness! Two months ago, if you have said that we can defeat demonic beasts, even an idiot wouldn't believe you. But with his highness, we made it through! And we have those mages helping us. So we can definitely win this time as well! 

The artillery crew: YEAH! AS LONG AS HIS HIGHNESS IS WITH US, WE WILL PREVAIL!! BELIEVE IN HIS HIGHNESS!! THE KNIGHTS AREN'T ANYTHING TERRIFYING! THE PRINCE WILL DEFINITELY DEFEAT THEM! SO WE MUST WIN THIS BATTLE! 

Roland looks impressed at the army he built 

And soon the Duke Ryans knights get in range of the 12 pounders 

Roland puts his hand forward

Roland: OPEN FIRE! 

The cannons open fire and at first miss the knights 

The knights not fearing the "thunder" continue to charge forward only for the second voley of artillery rounds to absolutely hits the group of knights killing everyone unlucky to be close enough to the cannon ball

And even though faced with this unkown weapon Duke Ryan continue the charge, thinking they could, but Van'er's quick thinking and the switch to Grapeshot rounds kills the incoming knight, soon the other soldiers also fire their guns killing the on mass the common soldiers, making them retreat in fear 

Ryan's knight: We don't know what kind of sorcery the prince used, but let's retreat for now! 

Petrov's father: Yeah... With these green hills, we won't run out of firewood, let's retreat!
