Chapter Three: The Consequences of Collision
I woke up to beam of the sunshine streaming through the curtains, my eyes squinting from how blinding the light was. I glanced over at the sleeping form of Kenji beside me, his features peaceful and relaxed; then, reality crashed down on me. I slipped out of bed quietly, gathering my clothes and slipping out the door, my heart pounding.
I tiptoed to the bathroom, washing my face and putting on my clothes before I stealthily walked down the stairs, my footsteps light to make sure that Kenji doesn't hear me leave. When I got to the living room, I immediately grabbed my purse before wearing my shoes and leaving his place.
I opened my phone only to be greeted by an abundance of notifications from Harumi.
Holy shit, 65 missed calls?!
I panicked, dialing her number instantly. She picked up the call on the second ring and her loud voice blasted through the speaker of my phone, almost destroying my eardrums.
"Where the fuck are you, Asami?! Do you know how worried I was?!"
"I know, I'm sorry," I sighed, feeling guilty of not updating her where I went and what I've been doing.
"I know you had a steamy night with Ken Sato, but that's no excuse for you to ignore my messages! I—"
I cut her off immediately. "How did you know I was with Ken?"
"I saw your sneaky ass leaving the club with him!" She huffed before squeeling enthusiastically. "So how was it? Is his bat big? You know, the one inside his pants."
"He was amazing," I smiled, finding her enthusiasm amusing. "And yeah, his bat is big."
"I fucking knew it! Asami, you freaky ass bitch!" She squeeled even louder before giggling, and I chuckled at her reaction. "Send me your location, we can discuss the spicy details while I drive you to your apartment."
Twenty minutes after I had sent Harumi my location, her car was already in front of me. Well, that was fast. She must be dying for me to spill the tea.
"Get in, cunt! You have a lot to tell me," she said through her lowered window shield, gesturing for me to sit beside her.
As we made our way to my place, the events of last night replayed in my mind while I shared them with Harumi. Her remarks had me cackling, especially the one about Kenji satisfying me more than my ex-boyfriend who, in her words, had a crayon-sized dick. I told her it was just a one-time thing, just me letting go of my inhibitions and getting even with Yori. I would never see Kenji Sato again, and that was probably for the best.
"It's a good thing you left early, you would've been late to your first day of work," Harumi chuckled.
She was waiting for me to finish getting ready since it was officially my first day of working with the Yomiuri Giants. I had landed a new job as the team's sports therapist, a position I had worked hard for. It was a fresh start, a chance to rebuild my life and career. We were only supposed to have drinks and dance at the club for a few hours last night, but things took an unexpected turn for me.

I stood in the lobby of the Giants' training facility, my heart racing with anticipation as I entered the building.
"Ms. Nakashima?" a voice called, breaking me from my thoughts.
I turned to see the team's manager, Mr. Takahashi, approaching with a welcoming smile.
"Welcome to the Giants. We're thrilled to have you on board," he said, shaking my hand.
"Thank you, Mr. Takahashi. Just Asami is fine," I replied with a genuine smile. "I'm excited to be here and ready to get to work."
