The late night shadowed over the town that Rody Lamoree was currently residing in. He rode his bike like hell through the slight downpour of rain. The adolescent was on his way to a friend's house party, one of which he was very excited for. Rody had moved back to France after meeting a girl named Marieanne (Manon) online, with the intention of possibly blossoming their friendship into something bigger. He was born and raised in France for a small portion of his life, and moved to New York City when he was young. Most of his extended family had branched out to the states so his parents decided to do the same. Unlike his parents, Rody hated New York with every bone in his body, and desperately missed France although his memories of the country were scarce. So, when he connected with Manon, it seemed like fate. The girl he loved coincidentally was in the city he was raised? The same university he dreamed of going to? After getting to know her and noting all of these wonderful coincidences, it felt perfect. And tonight was the night he was planning to ask her that sacred question, as she would be attending the party as well.
As the copper haired male arrived in his friend's yard, he grew increasingly more excited. He set his bike up where some other bikes were, chaining it up and walking into the already open front door. A bunch of young adults were drinking and partying among other things. Some were playing games, dancing, smoking, all paired with drunken babble and loud music. Rody smiled to some acquaintances, asking everyone where Manon was. None of them gave a clear response, some would wave a hand and say she was 'Somewhere over there.' Or 'I think she went that way.' To which the love struck boy followed their instructions in a sad attempt at finding her. To no avail, he gave up and decided to just wait for her to come out of hiding from wherever she was. After many people offering, Rody obliged and made himself a drink, still walking around the large house to look for Manon.
A half an hour had passed and Rody was already pretty tipsy, and mid drink he spotted that beautiful dirty blonde from the corner of his eye.
"Manon? Manon! Hey!" He called out to her, only to receive no response. She appeared to be talking with someone, but he couldn't really tell. Maybe she just couldn't hear him? It was pretty loud so that wasn't unlikely. He made his way through the room, squeezing past a lot of his drunk classmates before making it to where Manon was. Unluckily for Rody, the sight that met him made him physically stop in his tracks. There she was, beautiful as always. And her beautiful lips were pressed against a random guy's, someone Rody didn't recognize. You could practically hear his heart shatter, and all he could do was awkwardly walk back into the kitchen area and sulk. Him and Manon weren't official, so he had no right to be so upset. But he thought they had at least a little bit of something that lied in the guidelines of "greater than friendship."
"Guess I was wrong.." He said as he leaned his back against the wall, a slightly quiet voice piping up which startled him.
"Wrong about what?" Rody's gaze shifted to his right, his eyes meeting a pair of deep black ones from the slightly shorter, skinny male that was leaned against the wall alongside him. He had charcoal black hair, and almost sickly pale skin. No more color than a minimal red hue on his cheeks from the alcohol.
"Ah, it's just you. Hey Vince." Rody said as he stared back into his drink, seeing his dimly lit pathetic reflection in the liquid. He let out a sigh and shook his head. He stayed silent and Vince just continued to look at him for a bit, soon averting his own eyes to run his fingers through his deep jet black hair.
"You need to talk about anything? You look..ah, what's the word?.." Vince slightly snapped his fingers, trying to remember the word his alcohol-hazed mind had forgotten."Distressed! That's it. Do you need to talk?" He offered, knowing that this wasn't even a morsel of his business, but assuming he and Rody were friends. He used the term loosely when others asked, considering he didn't know how Rody viewed their relationship. He wasn't expecting a response, but to his surprise, he felt a hand snake around his wrist.
