Small warning! Subtle mentions of self harm and drinking up ahead!

Rody's alarm failed to go off, the ginger being woken up by the bright ember rays of dawn shining through his window. He grumbled and turned on his side, putting a pillow over his face in an attempt to slip back into his former dreamlike state. After a few seconds, the gears in his brain started to turn, his eyes shooting open when he realized his alarm clock hadn't gone off.

"FUCK! What time is it??" He yelled, practically fighting his blanket and throwing it off of him. He ran around in a panic, looking at the clock.

10:45

"Nononono! I have to go now! Fuck!" He scrambled to put on his nicer outfit out of the two he owned, pulling on his shoes and tucking the laces into them to avoid losing more time from tying them. He ran out of the door, not taking his bike as he thought he would be faster on foot than on wheels. He ran as fast as he could, almost running into multiple people on the way. He was sweating bullets, and after what felt like an eternity, he made it. He put his hands on his knees, crouching slightly to catch his breath. Just as he was about to walk to the door, it opened to reveal a familiar face. He looked almost exactly the same as he did in college, same charcoal hair, same dark eyes. Only now he looked more stern opposed to his previously quiet demeanor from all those years ago.

"Rody Lamoree. You're right on time." He said with a blank expression. Rody smiled a bit, standing up straight. He realized that Vince had definitely gotten taller although still short compared to him. That seemed to be the only big difference aside from the switch in his old soft persona.

"Vince?? You own this place? Holy shit man, this is incredible! You did pretty well for yourself huh?" The ginger said, hoping to make a bit of small talk with his old friend. Maybe the fact that they knew each other back then would sweeten his chances of getting this job. The stern chef nodded softly.

"Yes. Now, come with me." He opened the door to let him inside, Rody quickly grabbing it and propping it open for Vince to go in first.

"Here, I got it, boss man!" He said with a cheesy smile, Vince replying with a small hum before walking inside and Rody following close behind him. He was led into an office, Vincent sitting in the chair behind the nice, polished desk.

"Please, have a seat." Rody nodded and took a seat as Vince pulled out some papers and a clipboard, clearing his throat before speaking.

"I've taken a look at your resume, you have quite a lot of references. 28 different service industry jobs within the past seven years? It's quite impressive aside from the rate at which you transferred. Which I am choosing to ignore. However, I've taken it upon myself to call 5 of your past employers and all had nothing but good things to say about you which piqued my interest." Vince said, clicking his pen and crossing his legs.

"With that I have some questions for you. We'll start simple. Can you tell me a bit about yourself?" Vince said, his face stern and blank, with his foot tapping under the desk with anxiety from seeing his university heartbreak. His head was spinning, he was still so fucking angry. How could he do this to him, and have the audacity to try and apply for a job at his restaurant years later? He hated this feeling. Everything felt wrong, his heart could barely take it. He wanted to hurt him. He wanted to hurt him so fucking bad. Destroy him the same way he did to Vince back then. As his mind wandered, Rody spoke and replied to his previous inquiry.

"Well, I'm very hardworking! Whatever you need me to do I can do it. Whether it's heavy lifting, greeting guests, or running orders back and forth. I can handle it! I'd like to think I'm pretty kind, and can help influence positive feedback for the service your restaurant provides! And I work very well under pressure. So no matter how busy it gets I can keep my head on straight and not crumble in a fast paced work environment!" He said everything with confidence, though he was also panicking internally. The only difference was Rody couldn't figure out what was putting him on edge. He remembered him and Vince being friends, but for the life of him he couldn't remember why they had drifted apart.
